I think it's time for the buss family to sell to a person or a team of people who can run a Damm org

I was never high on Lue (though I was clearly wrong), so I’m not posting this to take that stance. I just hate that these fools have that much power. Stuff like this has repercussions down the line

This always bothered me. I preferred Monty but after we missed on him I thought Lue made sense given his relationship with LeBron. As I’ve said a few times, i liked the thought of him and Vogel. I don’t think he’s a perfect coach but there are very few of those.

I also don’t like that this is multiple times a decision has all but been made and then we pivot based on someone’s opinion at the midnight hour. Do your research and due diligence and then move forward.

The Rambii have too much power. As long as Jeannie keeps deferring to people in her little circle instead of seeking out the best and brightest, the longer the teams going to suffer. She could literally fix this today by reaching out to folks who know the game and bringing them in as some kind of consultant.

    it’s just aggravating.

What has been made clear to me over the years is that Jeanie knows NOTHING about basketball. There have been small reveals over time where an interviewer has got technical with her, asks her a question or for an opinion about the game, her brain shuts down and she spouts some rehearsed company line like "We just want to remain competitive like my father's vision."

She runs advertising, tv contracts and oversees the day-to-day operation but she has a great deal of help with these things (delegating quite a bit to Linda Rambis). Jeanies job is for her (or Linda) to tell all her underlings, do the best job available with visible results or I will replace you.

As far as she knows, Rambis is a basketball genius. Phil liked him. Kurt's specialty was by far, defense so I wonder how much he was for the dismantling of the previous core, especially with a defensive coach. I think the Rambii may be getting an unfair share of blame for RWB. My best guess is Kurt was actually overridden by LeBron and probably among the dissenters regarding Westbrook. There are only one or two persons in this organization that could survive the complete bungling of the Westbrook acquisition and it's Lebron and/or AD.

As bad as Phil was in NYC, I would welcome him with open arms if he were to replace the Rambii. I know, Jeanie wouldn’t do it, but she should. At least we know Phil is a master of getting knuckleheads to work together. What do the Rambii do well???

Huge no for me on Phil getting involved. He sucked as a front office guy, and he’s too old to coach. That’s why we need to stop the nepotism, look outside the Lakers family,
Phil isn’t young, we need someone to be here more long term.

Some really interesting stuff from Oram and Amick in their Athletic article today regarding the Jeanie, the front office, Magic and Phil...

Wonder what that role for Kobe would've looked like. He already turned her down for Rob's role and he had no interest in day-to-day front office work.

It says that the Russ situation has drawn Phil's interest. I'm curious as to what he thinks about it.

There have been reports we could bring in someone over Rob. Wonder if that might be Phil?

Also interesting that Phil and Rambis were the big proponents of hiring Vogel in the first place.
