i don't know if it's going to be that bad. that's the real question. how does rob manage lebron's exit? if it's pretty graceful and AD returns healthier, we're actually in really good position. the press just likes to make our situation sound dire all the time. when lebron signed here, they said we'd never win anyway. when kawhi and PG went to the clilps, they said we couldn't compete and that they were la's new kings and whatever.

now everyone's saying either a) we're screwed without lebron or b) we're going to make a horrible move or moves to appease lebron.

i'm not sure either is true.

i'm not super bullish about the rest of this year or next year, though.

I thought Rob did an amazing job the first couple of years. Seems like he always had a plan along with 2 backup plans.

But then he listened to Lebron and AD trying their hand at team building, and not only was it a disaster, he found he completely eliminated all of his previously well planned out flexibility while trying to go for broke.

Lebron meddled. It’s not disputable. They initiated Summer meetings to recruit a star that was signed on another team. That wasn’t Rob.

I think Rob matches up with Klutch and LeBron in the off-season, and they do discuss the options of moving him to a franchise he would be willing to go to With us receiving adequate compensation.

I can see him taking control back of the franchise and pointing us in the right direction.

me too. it's not inconceivable. whichever contender doesn't come out of the east between bkn and philly could put together a package i'd take, in theory.

i can also see lebron just playing out next year and walking.

i'd be surprised if that's not what happens

he's not trying to win titles anymore. he wants to break kareem's record and he doesn't need to leave LA to do that

I think the Laker executives will have to examine it as pros and cons and the benefits of trading him and restocking some talent versus having him leave with no compensation.

they also have two major chips in AD and Westbrook, so in theory, we coulld rebuild rather well if we play our cards right. And if we aren’t even going to make the playoffs this year, everything is on the table IMHO

This is far more likely. No way LeBron agrees to be traded. One, it would ding his image. Two, he would not want his target team to lose any talent to get him. He will play out next season, get Kareem's record in a Laker uniform, and then he is outta here.

He doesn’t have to agree to be traded. We are free to do what’s best for us, but having his buy-in would make it much easier of course

But he does possess the ability to tell the prospective trade team he will never play for them, and that alone would discourage even the most thick-skinned of teams lol

Still, I hear Charlotte is nice this time of year. Send us a Ball brother

I don’t think Lebron refuses to play if traded. He needs to be on the court to break the scoring record. He wouldn’t get any grief for stat stuffing on a crappy team either.
