We need Bezos or Gates or Musk or someone similar to make Jeannie an offer she can’t refuse money wise

I’m sure Magic could easily get his group that bought the Dodgers or other some such together but probably not a good thing after the s*** he pulled so f*** him. Would be a freaking bidding war if the Family ever put it up.

the team can't necessarily be sold it's locked into a trust, AEG has right of first refusal if the trust is ended

i agree on rambis; i don't agree that magic's resignation proves that the lakers are a mess.

what has kurt rambis done, ever, to warrant the respect he has from the top of our organization? it's as bad as chaz the bartender or whatever, and actually quite similar but doesn't get the scrutiny because rambis played basketball a long time ago. if jim buss's drinking buddy was a fringe player from the lakers in the 80s it wouldn't have made it any better.

side note: good lord those shows are awful. it's just dudes trying to fill time by yelling and using inflammatory language punctuated with quiet qualifiers. hope they pay well, because it would be hard for me to lace em up every morning for that nonsense.

stephen A is starting to look like late career d*** vitale in that he's figured out what they pay him for but can barely muster the energy to deliver it.

Maybe because every segment is the same regurgitated puke that it was the day before. Who listens to the same horse**** day in and day out. Like that dip**** Howard Stern. Walking pube head giraffe interrupting his guests while asking 50 questions in 20 secs.

I was thinking of posting this, but figured it was just going to lead to more rants about how terrible SAS and shows like First Take are…

I actually am very glad SAS said what he did. I feel like all the criticisms of our team and management in the national media have been pretty vague. Although us fans have been denouncing the Rambii for a long time, I don’t think I’ve really heard them brought up much by the national media.

Having guys like SAS shine the light on the specific problem with the Rambii can only help us. Hope more of the national media start giving us crap for the Rambii involvement. Start putting some real public pressure on Jeanie to change up the power dynamics in the organization.

it's embarrassing that in 2022 kurt f****** rambis has perhaps the loudest voice in the lakers FO

unfortunately, i can't see this franchise going anywhere for as long as the buss family is in charge. lebron/the 2020 title just temporarily masked everything that is wrong with the lakers and has been wrong for a decade now

    The temerity!
    The unmitigated gall!
    Kwamay Brown!

Regardless Screamin' A happens to be right. The Rambii ugh, nuff said.
Jeanie needs to run the team like the multinational corporation it is, not like a middle of nowhere greasy spoon.

The scion actually was not only super smart but ran a business. He created a specific brand for the Lakers (big name FA acquisitions, the LA glitz/glamour) but tied that in with very savvy business decisions - West was a great GM with Buss coming in to make the final call.

The Buss siblings seems more like a hot mess. Family owned franchises can definitely succeed - look at the Steeler but they are definitely not this stupid insular looking organization. Colbert the GM since 2000 was an outside hire and so where Cower and Tomlin.
Honestly this team was set for failure once Jeannie started dating Phil Jackson - yes they succeeded based on the foundation built for awhile before but once the dad died this cancer of nepotism just has taken off.

Meh ... kinda hyperbolic. Jimbo was going to get the reigns first regardless.

Thats what I mean: from what I remember wasn't Dr. Buss's reason is that Jimbo didn't have anything else to be proud of and Jeanie would be fine regardless?

There is a parenthood lesson in there somewhere, should children be left the business built up by their father or let to fend for themselves as adults.

Jimbo got the reigns first because Dr Buss didn't want Phil Jackson all up in his business. Surprised none of the numbskulls in and around the team talked about that.

That’s interesting and could make sense if that’s why he did it. Where did you pick that up from at the time if wasn’t being reported? Honest question. And Jimbo 11th hour shutting down Phil coming back in 2012 for MDA. But Jerry made Jeanie governor with more ultimate power so how does that keep Phil out of the business “input” to her if he hadn’t gone to NY and stayed in L.A.?
