dallas getting off the porzingis deal was actually pretty big, imo. much like with us, he was making too much money to never be available and had 2 years left on that deal. he didn't make them much better when he did play, or at least not enough to justify the contract.

Even Terrence Ross getting in some jokes at our expense. Dude probably didn’t even want to come to our toxic team.

I know a lot disagreed with me, but I think not trading Ben Simmons for scraps was beautifully executed by Morey.

So many were calling for him to do something because Simmons was losing value. I’m glad he didn’t let him go for a bag of peanuts. More GMs need that kind of back bone to stop players making jokes of contracts.

NBA owners and fans are getting exactly what they deserve. You, me, all of us support clueless quitters and reward them for it.

All these quitters like Kawhi Leonard to Ben Simmons to everyone in between like AD and James Harden, this is the product we have allowed to be created.

And the ring leader has always been LeBron James all in the name of "Player Empowerment".

When you let players who have as much sense of business at 22 years old dictate your business, you get this. Enjoy.....

complaining about simmons when harden just forced his second trade in less than a year is an interesting stance.

i'd actually argue marks got incredible value for a guy who was literally working with the opposing gm to get him there for weeks.

The idea of us making any significant improvements on the buyout market is indeed laughable.

We no longer have the appeal of being the team that a “ring chaser” may want to come to. But we still have the drawback that if any incoming player signs with us and doesn’t live up to expectations or fit well, the fanbase will crap all over them and potentially ruin their value. See Drummond. Not arguing the criticisms weren’t justified, just pointing out that it’s a gamble to try to come to a desperate Lakers team.

Maybe you can be a Stanley Johnson and fit perfectly into one of our needs, and increase your value. But if you’re already an established player and sign with us, there’s some risk.

Because I am. Ben Simmons actively tried to have his cake and eat it too. He couldn’t stand a team mate saying he should of taken a layup and melted down. Then played chicken with an organisation who didn’t budge but ended up crying wolf about mental health just to collect his pay checks. Then had the gall to request where he ends up - get the F out of here.

I thought the trade was a good one for both sides. I’m just glad Morey didn’t appease a disgruntled star for a bag of chips. Enough with that rubbish in this league.

You’ve disagreed before, but Morey got his man for what he probably feels is market value when he had a broken star that wanted out.

Ben Simmons is a lying sack of s*** who got his feelings hurt. It is an insult to say he has any mental whatever issues, especially when there are people out there who have legit mental issues.

Ben Simmons is a he b****, cry baby, quitter who deserves to get ridiculed the rest of his overrated career. Player empowerment is slowly eroding the NBA and all anyone talks about his feelings. It's time to start going back to the basics. This fake, touchy feely horse**** is played out. Time to MJ people in the Last Dance type s***.....

Well we largely agree then. That’s why I’m glad he couldn’t force his way out and get it all his way. Good on Morey.

bag of chips? he was offered mccollum and change and probably some other reasonable deals. he got lucky that bkn's season went bad and his buddy was over there ready to rig the system in the way everyone's mad at simmons for doing.

why is it ok for harden--who's appeased by everyone all the time--to half a** it and demand trades left and right, but not ok for simmons to just not play for an organization that tried to scapegoat him for their problems? if he was so bad, they should have traded him. the fact that the stars aligned for morey doesn't make it some master stroke.

i hope those two get what they deserve, but my guess is it's the opposite of what you think they deserve.

yeah, better to use your connection to another team's player to leverage the trade you want, because that's also how the system is supposed to work.

again, where are rob's legions of admirers?

The only thing we should be interested in as a buyout acquisition, is young talent with size and length. A project some other team didn't have the time to develop. Old dudes ring chasing, we already have enough of those. Unless it was some kind of shocker, that fell into our laps for some reason.

    Folks,

Albeit not for the Lakers lack of trying, unfortunately my sense from weeks ago was what happened. There is a lot of misinformation in the media right now, so don't read into reports too deeply. The FO, while obviously not pleased with the season thusfar, are still optimistic that a healthy Davis and LeBron can overcome many of our current challenges. As I stated earlier, the original plan was always to re-evalute this summer, and they are sticking to it.

    Please take care!
