Flipside is that you have an attack the paint and dish guy, that you have playing in a role like he's an off the ball jumpshooter. Yet you complain about his shooting? Clydesdales and quarter horses weren't bred to run in the Kentucky Derby.

IDK..Thibbs is a defensive minded coach and he's declared Kemba unplayable. He'd knock down a lot of those shots Avery is missing though.

    Hopefully

But why would Lebron give up the ball for a significantly worse/high turnover player to run things? I'm sure that's what he wanted to do initially, but after dealing with Westbrook up close that was quickly and rightfully nipped in the bud.

Malik Monk is now a better option handling the ball since defenders have to chase him on the pick and roll instead of going under with both players sticking to the screener.

We complain because Russ keeps taking jump shots even though he is not even touching iron and he should have some small measure of self awareness. I’d be fine if he just put his head down and only drove the lane to either dish it or clank the layup… as long as he at least pretended to play defense too.

Actually I think Russ and AD are a pretty effective combo, the thing missing with them, is the need for another slasher/finisher/scorer on the perimeter. It was assumed that Lebron would be that guy. For whatever reason, Lebron doesn't seem interested in playing off of a Russ/AD action. He wants the ball, and mostly hangs around the top of the key looking for the ball back when they run it.

I like Monk doing what he does, shooting, he's not a great decision maker with the ball in his hands either. That's fine with me. That shouldn't be his role anyway.

Then spread the floor and send him to the hoop on every play. We'd get more bang for our buck that way, instead expecting him to be a jump shooter. AD and Lebron can hit jumpers too.

Are they though? their 2-man lineup sports a 104.1 OFFRTG a 108 DEFRTG with a TS of 54.5 while Westbrook with Lebron sports a 110.1 OFFRTG with a 111 DEFRTG and 57.5 TS.

So offensively Westbrook and Davis is pretty brutal but AD makes the defense better than Westbrook with Lebron. I would hardly call them an effective combo. Lebron off-ball has been doing the most screening and diving I've ever seen him do. I don't think it'll ever get much better than that.

    Thats only in NBA2k
Team recieving the injured player can waive the physical. Rubio (who's out for the season) was just traded couple days ago.

That's not saying much in the big picture. AD and Westbrook aren't supposed to overcome Lebron's absence. I would expect Lebron and Russ to put up higher offensive numbers because Lebron is a high level facilitator. The issue for me stays the same. I don't think the 3 have played together enough, to really sort anything out.

The eye test can be deceiving because as humans, we all have our biases and see what we want. My eyes tell me that Westbrook is ineffective regardless of who he's on the floor with for this team and the stats bear that out.

Some might be fooled because Russ ball is a very fast pace so the raw box score numbers might look high because you get all these extra possession but it's far less efficient than Lebron ball for this team.
