i really don't think there's a single russ stan on this forum, lavar. we've got some lebron stans, for sure. when he's gone, they're gone, and you know who they are. but i think those supporting russ are either a) hopeful or b) realistic about what we can do now that we've brought him aboard.

i'm mad about the russ trade. it failed, but we have to move on with intelligence moreso than anger. and i don't know why i'm saying this on a message board.

 

Meh..I was here before Russ was signed. Probably be here after AD retires.

I think I know the way in which Rob will do this, but many fans won't like it.

i'd be shocked if rob isn't thinking extension like we've been saying. and no, it won't be popular here lol.

but a lot can happen. say russ got hurt--i think extension option is off the table, and the complexion changes a ton.

He's already explored the market.

He'll do whatever he can to get off his contract; whether or not they include our 27th pick depends on the transaction.

If he can't find a deal, Russ opts in to his $47 million dollar deal and hits FA next year.

If Rob gives an an extension that cuts into 2024, he deserves to be fired.

 

This is just a load of nonsense Weezy. OKC were unlucky not to win a ring. They were a top 2 team for 5 years and lost to the eventual champs 3 times and had injuries the other 2 years to their 1A or 1B players.

In the blown 3-1 serie to GSWs:

Player A: 30/8/3 on 42% FG and 29% from 3 with 4 TOs.
Player B: 27/8/11 on 41% FG and 32% from 3 with 4 TOs.

I watched that series intently and I think Russ was slightly better. Oklahoma seemed to agree after placing the loss at Durant's feet, calling him Mr Unreliable in their newspapers during the series. Russ had better games 1, 3, 4 and 6 than KD. And down the stretches of game 5, 6 and 7, KD's shot went missing - he choked.

 

I assume you're referring to Slick and I.

Slick just wants to get all 3 players healthy and playing together because he believes AD and Lebron are still too much for everyone in the west.

And I just believe that the hate for Russ has gone overboard and isn't totally rooted in fact. So I try to argue the other side to bring some balance to the narrative. I also think the 3 pieces can work together with some creativity and health.

It's a real lazy take just blindly hating on someone as a scapegoat. There are layers of grey to every performance, roster move, player and coach.

 

If you think we're going to stop posting if Russ gets traded, I wonder if you're planning on stopping posting if he gets that extension that you believe has no chance of happening?

Russ will not get an extension. That would be lengthening our window of losing basketball.
Rob, LeGM and AD wanted this. They are stuck with it for next season as well unless they get extremely lucky this summer.

 

Lol..definitely not happening. Russ was never getting traded anywhere. I don't think you guys really understood that from the jump.

I found Darryl Morey’s comments on how front offices assess roster moves and view their percentage of winning the title yearly really illuminating.

He made an interesting comment that the Russ for CP3 trade was done because on their internal analytics Westbrook was a higher ceiling raiser than Paul, who raised their floor better (but they already had Harden who was better at it than CP3).

In a lot of ways, we’re in the same boat, with all cylinders firing we are better with Westbrook than without him and that’s why I’ve wondered how can we get the most out of him.
