Me too. I'm hoping Randle ends up having the shooting touch I think he has. There were also some questions about his defensive ability coming out of college. Hopefully he has been able to improve that as well.

Randle has some ability there. I'd be much less concerned about it if we had an Ibaka back there protecting he the rim. I'd say if Okafor/Randle can get to 'average' on that end together, I'm a happy camper. Will it happen right away? Probably not. But I think the potential is there to be decent to very good defense at times.

In Okafor's defense, I think he will eventually be able to completely dominate most of these smaller teams and is crafty enough on the offensive end to go toe to toe with the better defensive big men.

That sounds like a fan trade. Noel is significantly better than Smart. And the inclusion of Olynyk is enough to not only cover that disparity, but also the chasm between the #3 and #16 pick? The proposal is almost insulting.

We'll see. He better be in shape. These teams will try to run him out the building. He's 270 lbs. He carries a lot of weight. Mike K. would play him in 5 minute spurts and then rest him.

Yeah. He is going to have to develop a NBA mindset as far as conditioning. Coach K pretty much flat out said that about him in college. I think he can do it, but I have thought about that multiple times.

I have always been high on Randle. I think a lot of teams are going to regret passing on him.

I'm starting to prefer Russell over Towns if Okafor is gone btw... Anyone feel the same way?

I brought this up earlier in this thread, but I feel the same way. Kobe's lasting legacy for these young guys needs to be leaving them with his passion. Kobe will go down as one of the most dangerous players because he always found a reason to dominate the opposition. A perceived slight. Not a WANT to destroy opposition, but a NEED to do it.

I really want him to instill that in these kids. I think he's already doing it with Clarkson and Randle and that's what has me excited about the future here.

Do you think Okafor would be getting this much criticism if Lakers didn't have the #2. It's almost certain that Lakers will be taking him and the media already bashes him like they do Kobe.

right. like towns's lack of any specific elite ability or russell's lack of elite athleticism and off hand. i understand why people like them; i just find it funny that so many are so convinced that they can't possibly fail to be stars while okafor is just going to be al jefferson. why don't i hear about how towns is just going to be derrick favors or russell is just going to be goran dragic? all are equally likely, imo. maybe worse in some cases.

I think this could be completely true. We've been leaking Okafor vs. Russell stuff for WEEKS in what I think is an effort to scare Philadelphia into giving us an asset to move up. I think we're trying to play the long game here and convince Minnesota and Philly to take who they want and stay away from our guy.
