Big time 4th Q with 9 of his 14 in his final rotation. Favorite was the one AR hit him for after the ball swung around to their side. He was jumping up and down for 10 seconds trying to get his teammates attention that he was open.
If we can turn this thing around...Out of everyone on this team without a ring, Melo is who I'd be most excited for to finally get one.
Carmelo has shown immense personal growth, and because of that, he has extended his career doing what he loves and is great at while making several additional million dollars - all while changing the narrative about him. Hard not to root for him.
Respect for Carmelo has shot up to 100%. Even if he runs out of gas, the ability to come off the bench, leadership, fire, shot making, not letting the Laker shooting curse infect him, even with only half the season done, I tip my hat off to him.
His mid-range Master Class in the 3rd (I think) where we went to work on 3 plays in a manner of a couple minutes was a lot of fun to watch. He hasn't really put that much work inside of the 3 point line since the beginning of the season when he was forcing the issue.
Clinical. His ability to score these contested shots with zero space or separation is what impresses me every time.
he's always been a very good post scorer. just really hard to stop without a double. talented? check questionable defense? check inattentive to things unrelated to scoring? check he wasn't ready to take on this kind of role until portland, after the league sort of shut him out for a while.
He seems to be controlling his weight pretty well, I'm not sure he's as skinny as he was at season start but he's in great shape compared to prior seasons. He gets some lift on those shots along with a high release.. he could really be a series decider for us, Horry on crack I'm hoping. He should be open all day long with A.D., Lebron and Russ playing.
