Sure, but at the same time, you're getting Towns on a rookie scale contract. That's not to say Cousins' contract is poisonous, but that same money will be forking over for Cousins' could be used on a free agent to fill a position in need. Additionally, I'm not 100% on Cousins' attitude issues. I understand he's young, but he's been in the league awhile now and still hasn't matured to be a professional. Towns' carries himself a little more intelligent than Boogie and I just prefer that demeanor than someone who's known to be a problem.

I understand the immediate impact that Cousins' could have, but personally, I prefer to have that one player to build upon to call our own. I know we have Randle and Clarkson, but I don't think they'll be nearly the same star level as a Towns/Okafor. With Kobe on his last ride, I want a new Laker for life to latch on to.

I wouldn't say Kobe was outright aggressive. That's more in line with Harden, Wade, Ginobili, etc.

Kobe also had some of the best handling skills all-time for a SG, and that helped him split defenders better than the Harden/Wade/Ginobilis of the league.

That's fine if it's not something you see, but whatevs, agree to disagree then.

Kobe wasn't outright aggressive? When have you seen D'Angelo dunk on someone? Kobe did that on the reg in his younger years and people feared him.

i don't see the towns/anthony davis comparisons. is it kentucky? because they're not at all similar players/athletes.

anyway, i don't care which one's there at 2, i'm not trading it straight up for cousins. give me that #6 and i'm probably pulling the trigger.

In any Cousins deal I've entertained, we're also getting the 6th pick which gives you your rookie to get attached to. There's no FA we'd get that's equal to what Cousins brings, so less cap space is a pain but if we get the #6 pick and Cousins, then it's really not a net loss. We may not offer a max deal, but with Cousins and the #6 we'd still have enough cash to get a meaningful addition. We could conceivably in fact draft Mudiay and sign Danny Green.

    Clarkson/Mudiay
    Kobe/Ellington
    Green/Young
    Randle/Kelly
    Cousins/Black

I'm not saying I would or wouldn't, just that it's possible.

I mean, of course I'm not opposed to it, but something about having the number 2 pick is special to me.

Seen the Jahlil interview; he's got kind of a dull personality. Oh, well. Jahlil, you're the next Kareem. Get ready to run suicides, hear speeches of having more focus, effort, and the all important GRIT. Jah you must have GRIT. If you don't have GRIT, you could learn how to acquire GRIT by taking advice from Ronnie Price. He's our 3rd string scrub that we played last year who has a ton of GRIT. So much GRIT that he threw a shoe at somebody trying to prevent a fastbreak opportunity. Grit, Jah, Grit.

To be fair, Duncan was never a personality either. Or Durant.

These types of guys are methodical, and do their damage on the court. Quiet, but analytical about the game. I think Jah does possess the grit. What I want to see from Okafor is a killer instinct and cold blooded attitude. I want him to go about thinking he's just dominant and that no one can stop him. Aggression, power. I want Kobe to instill that in him.

My post was supposed to be facetious, man. I don't care about Jah's personality. Excited to have him if that's the best we could do...:rofl::rofl:

If they trade Randle or Clarkson, I'm going to be pretty pissed off.

i saw an interview with some douchey talking head (greenberg?) and okafor/towns/russell/kaminsky. it was interesting to see them all interact with the interviewer and amongst themselves.

towns comes off as a nerd. which is ok by me; i'm a bit of a nerd. he also likes to repeat phrases in consecutive sentences, changing his inflection so it sounds like he actually said something different. he's well-spoken, but doesn't strike me as very sharp.

russell's kind of the stereotypical alpha, clearly image-conscious with pretty much everything he says, nothing particularly insightful.

kaminsky comes off as a frat guy. ok by me; i was a bit of a frat guy. he fancies himself witty, but he's really just moderately witty by jock standards, which means you're a funny guy in the locker room, but not at dinner parties.

okafor was the only one who seemed entirely put off by the interviewer (i would have been, too--the guy sucks at his job and is a dork). he speaks like a more intelligent, less bombastic shaq--his voice is so low you can't always register what he's saying. he's not clever, and he doesn't try to be. whereas russell really wants to tell you how great he is, okafor seems to know it and not feel the need to yap about it.

all of them seemed like decent guys who have the appropriate mindset and maturity to succeed at the next level. oddly enough, the one whose personality concerned me the most was towns--not because he seems like a bad guy (he seems like a great guy, actually). i just wonder if some of this competitive fire talk aimed at okafor might not be better aimed at towns.

i can't believe i wrote that much about that stupid interview. this is what happens when your 14-month old decides that you're going get up and go downstairs at 2am.

best scenario for me at this point is drafting Russell and then throwing money at a C like Gasol or Monroe

What report are you referring to @jerryr88 ? Everything I've read says this is mostly smokescreen coming from Cousins' camp.

We'd like him and he wants LA, but there's no bridge to make that happen reasonably so it's not happening.

and what if you don't land Gasol/Monroe? you're out a center and back to resigning hill/davis as your starting center?

we draft oakafor and use the other picks we have. We already gambled with our future when we traded for nash... we lost. Time to move on and rebuild. We are about to have Oakfor, Randle and Clarkson as our young core trio.. how do you give that up for a Demarcus cousins? You just don't...
