Are these locked and loaded headlines compliments of Ballmer’s stealth media campaign against the Lakers? I have to think Doc saying the Lakers shouldn’t get credit for the Minnesota championships is a part of that effort.
I have no clue how I overlooked this thread, but this is a goldmine. I started on page one last night and got through the first 10 or so. Really interesting digging into a treasure trove of Lakers history since the tail end of the troubled years, and learning of the inner machinations of the Laker empire at the same time. Really fun reading.

My POV is only from a promotional standpoint. To that effect, adding players like Westbrook and Anthony is helpful. Reuniting some of our former players from the championship team, like Howard and Rondo, is also a nice touch. Generally, Pelinka and Kurt Rambis are still in control in the front office. There's still a lot of questionable power dynamics going on, but winning cures all.

Folks, sorry for being MIA lately. The scheduling changes and uncertainty due to this new Omicron wave have had me going for a spin. In any case... Lots of folks have been asking me about the recent press. Remember that the original issues with the FO power dynamics I shared years back have not changed... the winning simply masked it all (e.g. see my old post here). As far as the validity about what has been said, recall that the Lakers have always used the media as a form of indirection in terms of sending a message or changing public sentiment. Think long and hard about who would benefit from a certain report and why... Happy to of course share trade rumors etc, but unfortunately much to our disappointment, it's been much quieter than this summer, when I was able to share more about the Westbrook & Hield discussions. This is not for Pelinka's lack of trying. However many of us old timers know that when you want the girl that's a catch, sometimes it's better to not reveal your desperation right out of the gate. Anyways, don't want to drone on, but of course can share more specifics if there's interest. Stay safe & healthy out there!
