I think his 3-pt % is now up to 45+%. Went 5/7 today (71.4%). Even played good D, and got rewarded with some nice open threes afterwards.
Wayne and Monk were incredible (on offense). Ellington made the shots he is supposed to make and Monk made some impossible ones.
For me this confirms the what we saw in the pre-season from him was due to his injury. Because this guy, right now, is an elite sniper. He's the only shooter we run shooter specific action for. It helps that he is always moving and understands angles and is relocating based on where the ball is. The effort on D really stood out. Great activity. It's going to be very interesting how these minutes shake out. His IQ regarding team D gives him the edge over Monk. His ability to be big time on one side and competent on the other edges him over Baze, who's been a negative everywhere lately.
He and Melo are still the only ones who keep their 3pt% at or above 40%. I mean, not counting Dwight, of course. He's a legend.
is he the only one who hasn't gotten a starting shot? maybe monk? i'd like to see what happens with a howard/AD/lebron/ellington/russ lineup. just for giggles.
Has he cracked the starting rotation? He certainly should have by now since he’s healthy and he was slated to be a starter at the beginning of the season. I’d like to see him out there at this point for sure. We have no shooters in our starting lineup. Take THT or Bradley out or both and see what the Duke can do.I was opposed to switching him out for Bradley for lack of D, but Bradley and THT in at the same time with Russ and Lebron makes no sense. No spacing at all and no one to shoot from outside. Ellington had a rough start coming back from injury which is to be expected, but in the last 6 games he’s shooting over 50% from the field and overall he’s shooting 40% on threes. That’s good enough to move to the starting lineup.
