His impact, as measured by actual tracking data, disagrees with your comment both then and now.

Analytics are overrated… I am assuming you are referring to GREEN.

we discovered and developed him over two to three years. do we have two to three years to get another? reaves has that potential, but he won't be AC until lebron's 39. even if you believe in our scouting and player development, part of the point of investing is, you know, reaping the benefits of the finished product.

its just the nature of business, Organizations won’t bow down to their players, if they are replaceable… sure losing AC sucks but it’s not like we lost AC didn’t do anything. Lakers signed buncha players , it just hasn’t paid off yet .

Data has its flaws, but Green is a winning player. I miss him considering how the roster was constructed.

Houston has won 6 games in a row.

We haven't won more than 3 in a row.

    Sigh.

He was good under supervision of Duncan / Manu/ Parker …he was meh in TOR … I think he was a bust for us and I am so glad his bricks didn’t cost us that one ring ..

I approved of the gamble with the Russ trade, but you can’t say it’s Carmelo + Russ for AC and completely disregard KCP, Kuz, and Harrell.

The fact remains that we did nothing to fill our defensive voids and I think you’ll find a lot of people here that didn’t like the Russ fit from the start and, knowing that the Russ trade would cost Caruso, they’d have preferred AC. Again, I was in favor of swinging for the fences with Russ, but I fully understand the reasoning of those who were against it and the FO could have and should have retained AC.

oh no that’s not what I am saying at all .. I fully agree we didn’t fill any defensive needs and sure Carmelo is basically done .. yes I myself did not think Russ will fit in, totally agree .. so far Russ has been good , we are just not getting any productions from the guys whom we thought will contribute… LAKERS racked up the line up with shooters disregarding playing and D at all … their plan was to outscore the other team while LBJ rests on the bench … it just hasn’t turned out that way .

That decision made me pissed off going into the season. I mentally had this team on a very short leash because the players on the team (AD and LeGM) decided they wanted a player every team has desperately tried to get rid of for 3 season in a row. And that decision cost us all our depth, and players you enjoyed rooting for.

Now? Every time they lose I am pissed...buuuuuut I am somewhat happy at the same time because I hate this collection of players. I still love the Lakers, but I hate the team wearing the colors.

Not directly. Not sure AD understands the cap all that well, but LeGM has created and destroyed enough rosters that he knows the ins and outs of the cap, and he knew that getting Russ (and keeping "his guy" THT) would essentially mean minimums up and down the rest of roster.

This season isn't even at the half way mark yet. As last season showed, injuries can happen to anybody, and change the entire picture. Hopefully we have already had our injuries for the season. I still ultimately believe that this team is better than last years bunch. It might take awhile for everything to fall in place. Going out in the first round wasn't anything to brag about. So I embrace the changes

The group last season finished in the play in game, and was out in the first round. It's not like we broke up some kind of great team.

AD/LBJ missed a buncha of games last yr , that’s how we ended up in the play in, not sure if they were both rushed back or not for the playoffs but then AD got hurt again and LBJ just gave up during phx series …. a healthy LBJ/ AD is all we need ( imho) everyone else is replaceable, it’s just that AD is fragile and LBJ is way over 100,000 miles .

Russ is a good guy, he really wants to help us win a title , local guy, I don’t have any hate towards this signing , either LBJ encouraged it or not .

I know what happened, nothing is guaranteed in this league. Everything you said about Davis and James would still apply if everyone came back. I like this group better, it's about the playoffs, we will be there, with at least home court in the first round IMO

Well they damn near did that didn't they this year and as could be expected it's not smooth sailing and some replacements are not as good as what we were working with. You're not alone but this is a very cavalier attitude, especially when these two guys haven't been the model of effort every night that is needed to set the bar for all the new "expendable" pieces of the team. Like they DID do for AD's first year here.
