I'm good with it if it helps them earn revenue to pay for title teams.

Does this mean we can afford Ennis now?

Damn... nearly 6x what Staples paid for their 20 year deal.

Call it the Crypt for short and it will salvage this

My god how far we've fallen: I grew up with the Forum and the Boston Gaaaarden and now we get this

Are the Lakers helped by this at all? AEG doesn't even own part of the Lakers anymore I thought and the Lakers have a lease and don't own Staples?

    Ugh.

Don't know why, but first thing I thought of was Kobe. Staples and Kobe are synonymous. Bummed about the name change.

I get that it’s good, like money is good, but it’s a horrible name. Maybe if they just called it Crypto Center or something, but the .com thing is so cheesy.

This is terrible news, this doesn't help the lakers in anyway because we don't own Staples.

Apparently this crowd isn’t very involved with Crypto Currency yet or aware it will be replacing our failing fiat money system.

Crypto.com, even though I’m not a huge fan of their platform, has been aggressive in getting their name out there. They are also already all over MMA. They will be a dominant player, and the next 60 days will be filled with an over abundance of crypto related news.

Renaming of arenas is like toilet paper. They constantly change since the money involved is too great to pass up. I get not being excited about moving from something named since the beginning, but of all the options out there, I’m pretty good with this.

the crypt jokes will fall by the wayside quickly IMHO. We’re too positive to be related to dark things, and as Crypto becomes more mainstream, it will just roll off the tongue as easily as Staples once did.

    It’s never enough!

if other teams are doing it, and you have shareholders that you are responsible for bringing a profit to, you pretty much have no choice. This is no longer a mom and pop operation. those days in professional sports are pretty much gone now.

...AKA - "the Crypt"? To bad the name doesn't go that well with the purple & gold uniforms, but hey... I get it. No problem.

Crypto.com is more or less a scam operation and possible ponzi scheme. I looked into them and what I found wasn't good.

I wonder how many years this is for and how many millions (billions?) more for that period of time than Staples was willing to go? Assuming they wanted to renew. This is more an AEG deal than Lakers though, right? Where’s Mr Rambis …. he should have some information. Right?

Interesting take. If you have time, please share why. PM is fine too if this isn't the place.
