Ugly game. Too many opportunities to win this game to come away with a loss.

I think they gave a good effort overall but we were off all game. I mean if you add that 7 points we left from the last fumble we left 26 points on the field today. Giants had no business being in this game. For me the game ball of horror goes to Carr.

Hard to maintain the great rhythm after a break... Not an excuse, yes, but Carr is a very good quarterback who isn't a great one that can just turn it on at a game's notice.

Silver linings: Chiefs haven't been dominant. Dallas and Cincy look beatable.

Other newsies: Bills whupped and Rams (so far) are too...

So i was thinking about the game yesterday and had a few (more) thoughts on it.

From a football game stand point I put the L on Carr. Just with the x's and o's he looked like the "Shane Falco" version of himself out there in "trying" to throw the ball instead of making throws. A lot of his balls were coming out wobbly and either way over or short of the receivers. His best throws were often sporadic or really quick hitters to the check down guys. The pic 6 he threw a horrible pass behind Renfrow. The blown TD to a wide open Waller he cleared him by 7 yards or more out of the endzone with no serious need to rush the throw. During the game I noted that the offense had left 26 points on the field in a game we lost by 7. Redzone ineptitude this game was key to us losing.

Now, outside of the simple X's and O's I think the Ruggs thing affected Carr a lot. He was off plain and simple. I listened to his interview before the game (I think it was from the day after the news broke) and I thought he felt defeated and drained at that moment. Carr wears his heart on his sleeve with the team. I dont believe he gives lip service when he says he loves these guys and he roots for them. It was said he talked to Ruggs a few hours earlier and he (Carr) was now questioning what he could of done better. So from a "life" perspective I think the weight was too much for him to be his best which is what the team needed him to be.

That loss was huge because it took away our cushion and now we go into one of our toughest division games against KC who traditionally has our number. Next week will tell a lot on the psyche of the team

I agree, puffy. Carr missed throws, plain and simple. Too many of them. But, my goodness, it's hard to blame him (off the field).

    Some good news?

    OFFENSE
    Leatherwood 515 snaps, 39.1 PFF, 10 penalties, 5 sacks allowed (+2.6)
    Miller 550, 80.4, 4, 1 (+2.7)
    Simpson 549, 55.1, 5, 1 (+3.4)
    James 550, 54.2, 5, 0 (+7.3)
    Eluemunor 266, 57.9, 0, 0
    Parker 293, 37.7, 5, 0 (+1.4)
    Good 17, 50.6, 0, 0
    Simmons 10, 45.5, 0, 1 (+1.0)
    Martin 6, 35.8, 1, 0 (-18)
    Winning: Kolton Miller
    Holding His Own: Simpson, James
    Struggling: Leatherwood and Parker
Silver Lining: Andre James just led all NFL centers in grade at PFF for week 9, and Leatherwood had his best game as a pro.
-This offensive line is coming together. Some of their best run blocking of the season in week 9.

I watched some recent tape on Desean Jackson and talked to my brother, who's a Philly fan and a Jackson fan, too. Here are some thoughts.

At 35, Jackson still has someting to offer a team like the Raiders. But he's clearly not without risks, and he won't "replace" Ruggs in the fullest sense. But no one should expect someone signed at this point in the season to do that. Don't forget: Ruggs was on pace for 1100 yards this season.

    The Good
Jackson is still fast. He can pull away from defenders. That's part of why he's average 13 yards after catch PER RECEPTION.
He's still a good route runner. He can get open.
He still stretches defenses. His average depth of target is 23.1 yards.

    The Bad
He's an injury waiting to happen. Since playing 15 games in 2016, he totaled 34 over the next four seasons.
He's on the decline. In the last three seasons, 15 games worth, he has 51 targets, 31 receptions, 616 yards, and 4 TDs. That's not bad, but it's not going to replace Ruggs's production.

    The Ugly
Watch him at the end of runs. He pulled up a few times with the Rams. Those hammies aren't close to 100%.
You can see his injury history here:
    https://www.draftsharks.com/fantasy/injury-history/desean-jackson/259

    Thoughts
The numbers I'm projecting aren't going to blow you away. In large part becuase I think he'll miss extended time, I have him at 15 targets, 8 receptions, 175 yards, and 1 TD. If he stay healthy, look for 16 receptions, 315 yards, and 2 TDs.

    Since last week...

    IN
    WR DeSean Jackson is signed
    DT Kendal Vickers
    S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
    LB Patrick Onwuasor

    OUT
    CB Damon Arnette - waived
WR Marcell Ateman - practice squad
    DT Darius Philon - IR
    WR Jeff Badet - practice/IR
WR Gary Jennings - practice squad

Really curious to see if Clinton-Dix plays much and is healthy. He was excellent as recently as 2019.

    Raiders/Chiefs
    Chiefs are -2.5
    Over/Under is 52.5

I like the Raiders and the under here.

That improved Raiders' D hasn't allowed more than 28 points all season, but they haven't surrendered fewer than 17 either. Their offense has rolled up 30+ four times, but they've been held below 17 three times, too.

The Chiefs were dominant on O early, but they have averaged just 12 points per game over the last three. Their defense has gone in the opposite direction, allowing 29+ points in each of their first five games. Since then, they've surrendered 16 per game over the last four.

We could see a relatively low scoring affair, but I think the Raiders take it 27-21.

Man this may be the biggest game for us of the season. The Chargers lost today already. We need a division win!

One of the worst halves we’ve played. Defense looks like last season. Jacobs looks terrible again. Gotta get him going.

Defense getting destroyed. Frustrated. Jacobs running like garbage. Carr made some beautiful throws. And Jackson fumbles it away.

KC came in and made a statement against us. We crumbled they soared.

Defense did nothing tonight. NOTHING. KC ran well, short passed well, quick hit well, went long well too. Penalties also killed us. Offense didn't do a ton. We got handled plain and simple.

Even if that Waller TD pass hadn’t been called back, and even if Jackson hadn’t fumbled and the Raiders punched it in for six, they still would have lost by two scores. Crosby got handled. Ngakoue got handled. Pretty awful showing. But it’s a tight division race. So let’s go.
