I didn't care for this much. It's really big and fruity, with candied orange peels bitterness and malty caramel sweetness. I didn't like the orange characteristics; not for $18/bottle at least.

I had some great beers during the Mayweather fight last week, but ended up driving the porcelain school bus all night, so i'm just now in the mood to talk about beer.

Excellent! So smooth, hiding the alcohol well. Like drinking caramel candy.

These guys are such master craftsmen. Probably one of the most unique beers I've ever had. tastes just like horchata.

100% rye ale, soured and barrel aged. Absolutely delicious.

    Good stuff.

Also quite good. Sours are tough on my palate. I like their taste very much, but picking up on the nuances isn't quite their yet for me. Sour and fruity, but no pluots...dammit!

"The brewer allows the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge" I was excited to try one of the highest rated sours in the world. It was good, but not mind-blowingly so. I've got to stop breaking the bank on these sours. $24 for that bottle!

Sour ale barrel aged with lime zest and salt to mimic a margarita i guess. It was awesome.

This rum is loved by noobs and hated by snobs because it tastes great but only by cheating. It's not aged 23 years. It's mostly 6-10 yr rum blended with some older rums. To get that 23 yr flavor, artificial sweeteners and colors are added. It's a $45 rum that tastes like a $200 rum (im guessing). I don't care. I'm sure you'd get a gnarly headache is you drank too much vs a real 23 year, but I'm not gonna do that.

I went to a Wine Bar last evening to watch a colleague's band. I ended up sipping Lustau's Los Arcos Amontillado. It had the greatest aroma of any alcohol I think I've ever smelled. It was tasty, too.

Inspired by Punk, I sought out some more of the Bruery's work. Found Rogbrod, a rye beer.

It was sorta like a Belgian crossed with a sour. It wasn't exactly sweet and wasn't exactly sour, but it was pretty tasty. I'm not sure I'd go for it if I were out for an evening on the town, but it was great to nurse over the course of a few days' dinners, at home.

I should add that at 8% it hit harder than I'd expected.

Really sour and acidic with little to no fruity notes. Not much strawberry. It tasted great with a rotisserie chicken and tomato bisque, but I think I'm over these guys and their absent fruit.

This is one of the best sours I've had. There's a really nice balance of tart fruity vinegar and woody malty dark fruits. Most sours are just so acid prominent, but this one has plenty of sweet leathery fruit. Oh, it's only $4ish/ bottle. Highly recommended.

Another. BJ's brews their own beers. Their Grand Cru is a Belgian ale.

I think all grand crus are Belgian, but not all are sour. The rodenbach is described as a sour red Belgian. And that's exactly how it tasted; like a sour quad. was bj's sour?

Ummm... it was sour. I'm pretty sure not intentionally. Bacteria contaminated I'll bet. It ended up tasting nice, but damn I wanted some reese's beer.

I got the Avion for my dad for Father's Day and the vodka for my uncle for his 50th birthday. I'm not too familiar with higher end liquor so I kinda just went with the expensive stuff that looked cool. Would these be good gifts?

@Helljumper you didn't happen to have posted on a PFF post about the Raiders; did you?
