And he is a FA this year (Shams just reported Nets are not extending him). If he doesn't play at all I can't see his career looking good moving forward.

Can't see a team throwing a max or multi-year deal for this lunatic. If he plays, people may forget all this and low markets may be prompted to take the bait, probably the Knicks

I’m sure some team will take a chance on him after this season. He’s too talented of a player. The question will be at what price and how many years.

Again, Rob probably keeping the 15th slot with vet minimum open for the deadline. No point in panicking now and burning it.

If you can talk him out of retiring, I'd only throw 1 year deals at him. Max money but it is either a 1 year or ONLY team options on subsequent years.

I bet the Lakers would jump all over him if it was even the slightest chance. Talent is talent...every team in the League would including the Nets again. Covid rules may be different next year.

Yeah, we all know I love a good conspiracy theory. Where it was posted is irrelevant, (Not Tik tok lol) and it is probably incorrect. I didn’t bother to fact check it either. My bad. The only real point was he most likely has no way around this requirement.

He might be a weird guy, but if he sticks to his guns on this, I’ll respect that decision. So much money is at stake. He has enough money to retire several times over if he doesn’t spend like Patrick Ewing, but giving up your passion?

not too many can do that. Especially pro athletes. It can become synonymous with who they are, and outside of their sport, they can feel a little lost. Who or what is Kyrie without basketball?

if he is not comfortable with that answer or ready to face that, he will most likely end up vaccinated and playing later this year.

Mahmoud Abdul Rauf retired because he would not stand up during the National Anthem citing the Koran prohibits him from engaging in nationalistic activities---Kyrie will be forgotten like him if he doesn't abide.

MAR was a marginal player at that point, if I remember, so it wasn't an issue to black ball him out. Had it been Michael Jordan, no one could have done diddly poo.

Kyrie is such a headache. I’m glad he’s someone else’s problem and not ours.

But do we even know if basketball still is a passion for him? Maybe he's just getting bored. He's an NBA Champion. He can retire today and live
well, while exploring new passions or avenues, whatever.

Or maybe his passion was to be rich, or famous, accomplished, whatever, and basketball was his vehicle. Dunno.

He said yesterday he doesn't want to retire.

He's really on a tough spot, specially if he doesn't want to be traded.
If he goes to Philly he can play all games except NY/NJ and Toronto right?

i haven't read the nba's full policy--are there provisions that would relax the conditions on unvaccinated players/staff? what if the cities/states relax their policies?

kyrie seems to be counting on that change at some point, given his comments, right? anyway, he's not a smart guy, and i think it's sort of dangerous that he has a pulpit, tbh.

seems to take great pride in having his "platform"

    "nobody will silence me"

Let's see what he does with it. Did Bradley Beal ever decide to take the jab? He was holding it out too, but the media definitely gave other guys more grief than him. I don't remember hearing any update about it.
