No you get over yourself. I'm a grown man..my opinions don't depend on what other people think. I spelled out clearly what I consider to be average, decent, good and great when it comes to grouping NBA players. Named names to go along with it too. Some folks may have a lower bar in this regard. That's fine, It doesn't mean that I have to change my opinion on the subject, because you disagree. Vice versa, fan boards are mediums for discussion, amongst fans that may have differing opinions. Nothing wrong with that. Now...

Actual playing time on the court, should count for something IMO. It's much harder to put up good stats, if you are playing more minutes. That's the way it should be, these are the best basketball players in the world. I thought Alex was great in his role, said it repeatedly. Also said that he had limitations in his game, he wasn't a good scorer or facilitator. He shot a decent pct from 3, but he didn't shoot a lot of them. The more you play, the more teams adjust to you and try to expose your deficiencies. Perhaps that's why he didn't start. It doesn't take away from his contributions to the team. Yet I'm not going to overrate them either. To me he is a decent NBA player. That's not some kind of scrub. He is better than some, not as good as others. I see nothing wrong with anything I posted.

Fine. Should have left the cult mentality affecting others’ observations crap entirely out of it then.

I was the lead in a movie called The Kult. Based off a book. Does that make me bad?

Meh..some of you guys are a very sensitive bunch.

Cult- a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.

It was a slight dig...lighten up!

Not really. The mods here and the regulars actually have a lot of patience. More than they should. Even if you're right, let it go. Out of respect for the people who have to handle more than themselves.

Imagine them being teachers. Teachers have to deal with 30 different kids, not just one like most parents. That means 30 kids, 30 different parent or guardians. And parents last 30 years have turned into a sorry sack of enables for their crappy raised children. In this case, the posters are the crappy raised children, hahahahahhahaha. Well, some are, not all.

Exactly. You’ve got your proudly stated astute observation of the game for a long time while the rest of us have the misplaced or excessive admiration affecting our opinions on AC. Not the also numerous decades long following the game and its players most here have as well.

The term cult mentality to me implies people are just jumping on some bandwagon because Caruso was a fan favorite. That also implies that anyone who thinks highly of him is just doing so for that reason and didn’t watch his play for years, even before LeBron signed here, haven’t done research into how his play actually translates to real stats on his impact. It’s an insult to say that, it implies your opinion on him is the correct one and everyone is blindly loving him or something, since you say our admiration is misplaced. So yeah, not really a slight dig, especially considering the way you dug your heels in. Many here have appreciated Caruso’s play for years, and Lakers fans IMO are a smart bunch, especially the group we have here. Caruso was a huge part of the culture and defensive identity/get out and run nature of this team when we won the title, his winner mentality was one of the reasons he was one of the only ones to stay on the roster from the youth movement, the Lakers refused to part with him in every trade that came up. My thinking on why he didn’t get re-signed this summer is Rob, as good as he has been, tends to overcorrect for weaknesses and he went all in on shooting/offense this offseason because we lacked it last year. If Caruso has a weakness that’s it, not someone who looks to score a lot.

I got your exact words. You’re the person with the attitude who doesn’t get it.

The cult mentality means exactly what I posted to me. Nothing more than that. It was mostly in jest. Now I most definitely dug my heels in on my opinion on good/great/avg/decent. That is my viewpoint.

Personally I find these type of conversations interesting, lively debate makes the time fly.

I've been a Laker fan a long time too. Long before Lebron, or Shaq and Kobe. I know who Alex is, I know his story. I have some affection for every guy that ever donned the uniform. Perhaps I'm more pragmatic about role players in general. They come and they go, I hope they do well if they move on, but I don't really dwell much on them leaving. It's about the stars for me, and they will be eventually moving on too one day. I enjoy the ride and look forward to the next chip. I get it though...I was kinda hurt when we traded Norm Nixon...I loved that guy's game. We moved on to bigger and better things and more chips!

Maybe Alex just took the better deal on the table. Maybe Rob had a miscommunication with his intentions. I don't really know. I do know that I'm expecting another championship banner to be raised at the end of this season. Some of those guys that contribute to that happening, won't be here in the following season. I'm cool with that too. We are the Lakers, it is what it is.

    I'm into cults, I'm in.

Our +/- with Caruso on the court, or more specifically his +/- was one of the best in the league and the 4th quarter. No matter what anyone thinks of him, he was very effective. He did all of the little things that didn't show up in the box score in addition to what did.

He will be an instant sensation in Chicago, and they will love him as we have loved him.

Anything more than that probably isn't worth talking about. We all wonder if a player is fantastic in 20 min a game, can he do it for 40? Some players aren't built for 40 min, that isn't their role on their team, or they have reduced effectiveness over greater minutes. Mariano Rivera was great in the closer role, but he wasn't converted to a starter because he had a dominant niche he was great at.

Let's just appreciate how great he was in his role. In his role, he was a HOF'er. Don't @ me.
