But you have to give Trezz minutes. He's 6th man of the year. He shouldn't like DNPs. You sign the homeless version who's not currently in the league and there's no push back when he sits 5 in a row.

I don't hate the idea of an energy, hustle big as your 3rd stringer. He's only 31. Put up 6/8/1 in the Blazers summer league and in the highlights of Trezz's summer team, Faried was on his team and moving pretty well.

If we're only adding one more player, it should be a wing defender. But if we max the roster out, like I think we should, another big would be the next addition on my list.

Regarding Faried, seems he fell out of the league on purpose

Good work, I would expect it is a sabotage plan from Rob Pelinka. He knows that if we sign Faried, then the Clippers will sign him next year so it might be a way to weaken the Clippers.

Oh and yes Faried is toast, burnt toast, if not fried toast.

I'll take him as our backup PG next summer for the mid level when he agrees to a buyout on that final year.

Looking around at the 25 highest paid players, the only options that could be discussed...Porzingis (still $12m short), Love ($10m short, Cavs don't need a PG), or maybe Harris in Philly ($8m short) .

it would have to be for something less than what russ fetched, i think.

could also be a kemba situation. does anyone have the full MLE still sitting around?

He's not the same class of point guard as either of those guys in terms of production and leadership and he's still working his way back from injury imo

man that Harden trade was catastrophic for the Rockets.

seems like OKC got so much more for PG who is a much inferior player.

If Clippers want to be on the hook for that money, by all means. Reggie, Kennard, and Morris? But at that point, why would the Rockets do it and take on longer deals and deal with a team who gave all their picks to OKC.

Heat can't do it unless they want to give up Bam and Duncan. Not happening. Maybe it was a preliminary call to see if a buy out was likely.

    Pistons? :Melo Defense:

In the event John Wall gets bought out, keep in mind he is a Klutch client. Just wanted to point that out……….

But realistically, if Wall does get traded to a team that plans on keeping him, there’s really only 2 teams that could use him and have ways to match salaries to make the trade work. Those 2 teams are….

    The Boston C Bags
    - C Bags could send out Horford, Kris Dunn, and Schroder (when eligible to be traded) for Wall. Horford’s contract expires when Wall’s contract expires, so Boston could think of it as essentially getting Wall for Dunn/Schroder. The Rockets will definitely buy out Horford (cheaper to do for the Rockets since Horford is on a smaller contract), while getting both Dunn/Schroder on 1 year expiring contracts.

    The Clippers
    - they would have to package Éric Bledsoe, Serge Ibaka, and one of Zubac/Morris/Kennard. My bet would be Morris.

The Clippers do this trade because Wall is still a upgrade over Bledsoe. Ibaka doesn’t really help them this season as he will be out for a long time (back surgery) and the real other asset is one of the 3 of Zubac/Morris/Kennard that they would need to include to match salaries. The Rockets do this simply just to get out of Wall’s contract by breaking it down to 3 smaller contracts. Bledsoe’s contract ends the same time as Wall’s, but it’s half the amount. Ibaka is a expiring contract and this helps Rockets gain cap space, the last player of Zubac/Kennard/Morris all have longer deals but at least it’s a smaller contract.

what does "winning" this trade look like for houston? i don't get that. hasn't that organization seen up close that being obsessed with "winning" on trade day isn't a formula for long-term success?

Don’t know why Pistons would be interested as well when they have Cade to develop

It's because they can't afford to lose another one. They traded a top 5 player for one of the worst returns for any NBA all star ever. I don't know how you could possibly get a worse return for Harden. AND they traded him to the team of his choice.

    Here's their haul

That's not much better than we got for Danny Green. And I HATE DS.

Then for Russ (top 15 player on his worst day) they got Wall (1 of the biggest injury red flags in the league) and a 1st that can't be converted to a top 10 pick until 2025. Oh and they're moving on from Wall or sitting him for a year and then buying him out.

So they gave up a superstar and a star and have nothing to show for it. I guess the best argument that can be made on their behalf is they were able to get the #2 pick in the draft by dumping their players and tanking. For their sake, Jalen Green better be a top 10 player within the next 5 years and he has to show flashes on day 1, if they want to hold on to any sense of dignity.

i'm not disagreeing they got murdered on those deals. i'm just not sure what winning a wall deal looks like, and i'm also not sure how "losing" it could make things much worse. honestly, it's in their best interest to just get him out of there quickly, regardless of the return. just don't take on bad long term salary. is that "winning"? i'd say not. but if you try to get cute here (say, move wall for longer term salary on a slightly better player and pay a pick in the process), you could make things worse.
