They were on sportsnet last year. Should be the same way this year...

On draft front, Lakers will endeavor to bring Mudiay, Russell and Okafor all back for second workouts before next Thursday.

I understand the interest in Russell, I just can't sell myself on him over Okafor.

Gotta be thorough. Follow up workout questions: how do you feel the Lakers stack up against every other team you've worked out for? If their answer is anything other than "they were good, but I want to be here" then they can just get the **** out!

Does anyone know anything about Towns' workouts? Also who else has Okafor worked out for? I know he was supposed to have one with Minnesota.

Today I'm leaning toward Russell. I'll be back on Team Okafor tomorrow.

Okafor is supposedly working out for the Wolves this week...yesterday and today were the reported days. As for Towns...crickets. If he's meeting with teams he's doing it privately, and no news on any workouts aside from his training sessions has gotten out.

In Ford's mock released today he mentions the Lakers are still debating between Okafor and Russell, but believe ultimately they will go Okafor because they think guards will be easier to find in free agency/trade market.

Conversely, Sheridan Hoops also released a mock today, only they say the exact opposite, that the Lakers are leaning Russell because they believe he could end up being the best player in the draft. They also say the Lakers are enamored with the idea of Russell learning under Kobe for one season. Byron Scott added to the Russell-to-LA hype by saying that "with the way the league is going it might be imperative for us to take the guard".

Oh, and Chad Ford doubts the Lakers have the "guts" to take Porzingis, but says they absolutely should because he is that good.

Anyway, that's where things are at right now. Tons of rumors, nothing concrete, Lakers will definitely take Okafor unless they take Towns, Russell, or Porzingis. I'm sure the Mudiay rumors are on deck.

I saw all of Ford's junk I hadn't seen the Sheridan stuff though, thanks @unpossibl1 .

I'm thinking it's all a lot of smoke. I haven't seen anything that indicates to me that the Lakers wouldn't take Okafor. Especially now that we know Embiid isn't coming along at all, Philly would love to get their hands on a solid, young big man like Okafor so the "trade down to Philly" thing with Russell makes even less sense than before.

I think when it all comes down to it, it's what we all have known all along: Towns, Okafor, Russell go 1-3, then NY is a wildcard but they probably go Porzinigis. Then Orlando goes either Winslow, Hezonja, or Cauley-Stein. Then Sacramento lucks into Mudiay.

Doesn't necessarily mean their Russell info is wrong, but Sheridan Hoops does have the C Bags selecting Aleksander Vezenkov with the 28th pick in the draft. The problem is Vezenkov pulled his name from the draft a few days ago, so he can't be selected. Take that for what it's worth.

If the Lakers take Russell.. They better as heck feel good about getting Gasol, Monroe or Jefferson in FA

    True.
Or, maybe our scouts have seen a 27 or 34th pick gem of a center like they saw in Clarkson last year. They brought in a TON of late first round/second round bigs the last two weeks haven't they?

I'd still pick Stanley Johnson or Hezonja over Russell, so I'd be devastated if we pass on Okafor....

Yeah, I still don't quite get the Russell hype. Perhaps some of his workouts are pushing his stock, but his highlights still never did much for me. And I'm not usually one to look too much into highlight reels, but never quite impressed me enough as a Top 3 guy.

Hezonja on the other hand, has he had any workouts with anyone?

I think most of what Russell will bring in the NBA is smarts and by all accounts he's a really bright kid. I don't see an explosive, carry your franchise guy though. I really don't.

A few things could be a factor, maybe one of the bigs in FA have given them a handshake type deal, or a player later in the draft accompanied with Russell seems like a better option. There will be some truth going around, but mostly smoke. I'm just excited to see what direction we choose to go, as I feel like things are finally looking up.

I think Towns is angling to be the #1 pick. That's fine. I think Okafor is angling hard to get to LA which is great. I think the agents for both Russell and Mudiay would love to be in the mix too, but I think Towns wants to go #1 and I think Okafor wants LA.

That's the biggest gamble you can take in Free Agency.

Agreeing in principle is one thing, actually having the ink on paper is another. Hell, even having the ink on paper is sometimes not enough for us (sigh).

If Russell was our target, and say Philly would entertain the idea of Okafor, the Lakers would have to AT LEAST entertain trading down for some assets.

Everybody can get what they want, Towns #1, Okafor to LA would make him and me happy.
