Can’t OKC just sign him outright? I think they’re the only team that still has a lot of cap space.

I have a feeling he just ends up taking a 1+1 for the MLE somewhere, no S&T involved.

Groundhog Day hell Dennis is now in. Every morning alarm goes off the wife sees another landing site for him gone and starts chirping about the house, the 3 kids and the 84M.

They could sign him outright for sure. I just hate giving up assets for nothing. A TPE isn't a great big deal to give, they can be bought by cash or a 2nd rd pick. The 1st round pick is my best case possible scenario. I haven't really checked their roster closely, but they may have a decent PF prospect that we may be interested in too.

Lol..Yeah he put himself into a bad situation here, but LA real estate isn't the worst thing to own.

We don't even need anything. I'd just ask him to change his name to Panda Friend. I hear it's available now.

Seriously now, this might be the worst free agent decision in the history of the NBA. Refusing $84 million is...

I just don't see how he fits here after all the signings we have made.

Well sure, of course WE would want to get an asset in return if possible. But if OKC can sign him outright, why would they have any incentive to deal with us?

Damn! I didn't think Walker get bought out this year. Really curious how much he left on the table. Good pickup for the Knicks. They had a pretty bad free agency. Not sold on Fournier, especially as their only big get (at the time) or at the price. But with Kemba and Fournier their offense won't stall out in the playoffs when Randle is shut down. I wonder if Thibs can get Kemba up to snuff defensively.

That would be almost as dumb as turning down the $84m or still expecting $25m a year on the open market. He wouldn't get the minutes here. Best he's getting minutes in the high teens. 0% chance of increasing his value on the market that way.

Honestly at this point if OKC or Memphis don't want him, he might be better off going unsigned and waiting for the first injury to a team's starting backcourt.

but they have 4 huge salaries instead of 3. same with bkn.

    upload_2021-8-4_13-19-24.png

that big wiggins contract (or bkn's harris) means that if a trade comes up for a high-salaried player, they can get in the bidding without losing a superstar.

if we're the big 3, THT, nunn, and vet mins, we're out of things. that's my issue.

me too. he was my trade target. i wanted schroder + kuz or harrell for walker. thought he was a better fit than westbrook (and cheaper).

turns out we could have gotten him for nothing! that's nuts.

thibs and vogel both really have to earn their rep this year.

still can't believe he's not in dallas at this point. and that dallas didn't get in on kemba, whom they pursued in FA a couple years ago.

For all our laughing and mocking of Schroder that he turned down the 84 million dollar contract...dude is still coming off a 70 million dollar contract. Which means he already has as much money as probably half of this board...combined.
