    Porter is the better player but he hasn't shown he can stay healthy. Really really like Gay here.

    Yeah this the reason why I wouldn't be ecstatic getting Porter for the exception. Feel like its a gamble on our best chance to get another asset.

    This is my current prediction/semi-realistic hope for how the roster shakes out

    Westbrook / Mills
    Ellington / Bradley / Horton-Tucker
    James / Gay / Matthews / McKinnie
    Davis / Anthony / Morris / Dudley
    Gasol / Howard

    Maybe with a big trade exception from a Schröder S&T as well

    no, i don't believe so. they're less flexible than having the player, and they expire, too.

    but where's the crowd right now?

    marc/dwight?/?
    AD/gay?/kieff?
    lebron/mckinnie/melo?
    caruso?/THT?
    westbrook/?/?

    i don't think we have a logjam anywhere, really. if gay and melo both come, there's not a lot of sf/pf minutes, though. but guard is pretty open.

    they'll never learn, even under new management.

    no idea why players won't go there, though. even with luka there now. it's nuts to me.

    Yes. But the Lakers are in win now mode, and they should be. You have to contend as long as you have Bron on your team. After that... who knows, right?
