Not a bad move, he has more upside than Iggy, Ariza or Melo.

I think Patty Mills for the 5.9 - if he would take it - is the best and safest fit. Gives us a little bit of Lowry and Buddy offensively. And a much better all around player than Ben Mac.

Riley always finds ways, it’s remarkable really.
I didn’t think we could afford him. Not that he’s amazing or anything, but he made 28 mil last season and players of his position/type always get overpaid. If he’d come for the MLE I’d sign him for sure.

I agree. Just concerned about the fit, since he is only 6-1. I guess they could go small sometimes with him and Westbrook in the backcourt. I suspect it could be somebody like him or Porter with the 5.9. There also could be a surprise player that could emerge with the 5.9, such as McDermott or somebody else.

I suppose he would give us that wing defender with size that we have been b****ing about for years. He is also an accurate three-point shooter. With Lebron sliding over to the 4, this makes sense for the 5.9.

He figured out how to use space to get derozan and then use dragon to get Lowry. Totally illegal of course, but we can’t throw stones with rob in office.

Holy crap. Chris Paul just declined his last year contract. Sounds like longer term contract? I would have waited to collect that 44 mil first.

No he was smart. 3 years for 90 mil is a lot more security than one for 44 with his injury history.

Why Ellington over Matthews?? Matthews if he'd played consistently in an important role with good minutes .... I bet would have shot a lot better. And I don't remember Duke back when he was a lot younger here (5 yrs?) I don't recall being the defender and bulldog strong player that Matthews is.

Good point. Their career stats are basically the same. For some reason, Ellington is a higher regarded shooter.

I think they realize they're not getting Lowry. BUT they can't get involved in a deal getting Dragic, Slovenian connection with Luka. TOR has no use for him, so a 3 team deal is likely anyway.

That’s my target for the tax payer MLE if DeRozzen doesn’t want to come for the cheap.

I think it is either between Porter and Mills.

Mills career per 36 minutes: 16.2ppg, 3.0 three-point field goals/ 7.7 three-point field goal attempts. Three-point field goals per 36 minutes last three seasons: 3.0/3.7/3.4.

    Porter career per 36 minutes: 14.9ppg, 1.8 three-point field goals/ 4.5 three-point field goal attempts. Three-point field goals per 36 minutes last three seasons: 2.9/ 2.6/ 2.3.

I give a slight edge to Porter, because he fills a need at small forward, with Lebron moving to the four.

What does everyone think, is Porter Jr a more impactful or stronger or better in any important way player than Kuz? Seemed like they were similar and maybe he was a little better??

I haven't seen much of him, but by looking at his stats this guy is clearly a better three-point shooter than Kuzma, in terms of accuracy. That is a good comparison though. Lakers might want to be filling that void, so this signing makes sense without them going outside the box.

Miami targeting some of the vets we're looking at. Also another mention of Drumm to there.

Regarding the DD + Lowry pairing in MIA, not sure how Riley could make that work. If he can get DD down to $15m a year and move out a couple pieces, I think they'd be close. A 4 headed attack of Bam, Butler, Lowry, and DD would be damn impressive though.
