If we pull off Westbrook and Hield, while neither are my favorite, that’s a championship team to me.

Fairly certain that is impossible due to the cap. Hield makes an insane amount of money for being a 16 ppg shooter who shoots merely OK from three. He is due almost 24 million next season. AD, Lebron, Westbrick and Hield alone would put us at 137 million.

yeah, i'm not smarter than our basketball ops, but it's not how i'd proceed.

i actually like operating over the cap until lebron's done, and i think musical chairs around two talents of that level is the envy of the league (seriously--nobody else has this).

THT is going to be an interesting case in some ways, but to me, his current contract situation means we just have to roll with him.

hield is good, but i think he's a bit overrated. obviously he'd be an upgrade to kuzma but i wouldn't like if they also lost KCP in that deal

remember, whatever hield was shooting from 3 last season would go down at least 10 pts once he came to LA

i'm not certain hield is a more valuable nba player than either kuzma or kcp.

FT% would drop from 100 to 68 upon arrival in LA... it's not a bug, it's a feature!

would take Hield over Kuz or KCP 100%, but he's not a 3rd star.

if it hard caps us, it's a bad move.

um...i'm a lowry fan, but that's just nuts. i suppose on a one-year deal, i'd consider going really high on him, but this is a guy who's never been a star, really. is he good? of course? he's a winner and a bulldog and all that. but good lord he's a mid-thirties guard under 6'3".

Hield over Kuzma is a no brainer for this team. All day and twice on Sundays.

Lakers ain't signing anyone of any significance. No one worth their salt is signing the MLE to play for the Lakers. Go get Westbrook and get one more impact player for the MLE and tell AD his a** needs to be ready for 82 next year. No more bubble excuses.

Exactly how I feel. Hield is overrated. Any extra shooting he gives us over KCP is negated by the fact that KCP can play at least average to above average defense. Throw in the fact that he makes quite a bit more money and I'd rather have KCP than Hield. If he was worth 24 million a season, Sacramento would have at least gotten close to the playoffs in the last few years.

    But for context...
    Kemba Walker: $36m next year
Chris Paul, John Wall and Russell Westbrook: each @ $44m next year

We're big game hunting and that's VERY expensive . Based on the market, I'd be OK with that figure if there was an out after the second year.

AD will play 25 games if we use him your way. He is what he is, gotta work with it so he can peak for the playoffs.

Honestly, I don't really care all that much what they do. If we have Lebron and AD and they manage to stay healthy, we have more than a good chance to win it all. If they decide to stay put, so be it, if they decide to make some kind of big trade, so be it. Either way, it all depends on Lebron and AD being ready for the playoffs. Having guys who can step up and produce when those guys sit would be nice. We did NOT have that last season and maybe it was just one of those things. Maybe Woj was right about DS having Covid right before the playoffs and that's why he sucked air. I don't really believe that but I really don't know and have no skin in that game. I think what matters is that we have a team that can play when either Lebron or AD sits. Past that, I could care less what we do as long as we win another ring.

lowry's older than all except paul and was less effective than all except wall (i guess kemba's debatable). more importantly, he'd hard cap us.

but even if i were dallas, i'd think long and hard before using all my space on lowry at 25 per for more than a year. sometimes, it's just better to not do things.

i said the same thing when boston signed kemba, and look at it now.
