Definitely makes a lot of sense if we move Kuz. That opens up PT for Melo on a minimum contract for us. I get Bron and Melo not wanting to team up when Melo was trying to get back into the league. Some would have seen it as a favor and Melo not earning it on his own. He's done than and proved in Portland that he never should've been out of the league. Now that is settled, come to LA and get your ring.

Our best move is to look for a trade that doesn't involve receiving a player in a sign and trade. So guys like Dinwiddie, Conley, Derozan and Lowry are not going to happen. It's possible that we could move Dennis in a S&T, but there are a limited amount of teams that could absorb his contract and be willing to be hard capped. OKC makes the most sense to me, we could trade Dennis and Kuzma for Walker and a first round pick. The Thunder have the cap space, multiple draft picks, and a point guard they probably would like to move. Dennis would be cheaper, Kuz has some talent, and they still have a ton of picks. For the Lakers, Walker's contract is huge no question, but he is a better scorer off the dribble, and we would have two first round picks. Kuz was the 27th pick in his draft, so we most definitely could find two kids with upside in this draft. We could keep those picks or move them for another piece. Walker's contract could be moved later for another super star when James exits. I'd much rather be over the cap, than hard capped.

Obviously, Melo can still be useful of the bench. He brings good 13-14 PPG, even shot over 40% for 3. I'd definitely take him if he becomes available.

They would be SO small though. In a hypothetical matchup with the Lakers, Draymond can try to annoy AD, but who out of Steph, Klay and Lillard is going to guard Lebron? I guess it may not matter, but if a team goes big on them, they are in big trouble.

Dame and Steph would be entertaining, but I still don't believe that two little guys, running around jacking up a bunch of threes, is going to win a Championship. It will sell a lot of tickets and make good TV though.

You'd have to find another versatile bigger defender who can switch everything. Klay, Green, and X would be responsible for covering them.

Yeah, the few big teams would give them trouble. But on the flip side, who has 3 perimeter guys to chase around Steph, Dame, and Klay? You have to pick up two of them 47 feet from the basket.

Klay is coming off of back to back ACL/Achilles injuries, that guy may never be the same. I can't think of anyone that has suffered both that was.

AD was still finding his legs coming off his injury. He didn’t hit his stride until games 2-3 of the Suns series. Draymond has no chance of stopping healthy AD.

That's a good package. Can only see a better one with Simmons

yeah, that's a solid offer and a weird experiment that would be worth watching. dantoni very jealous he can't coach that team.

oh, bobby marks isn't bullish on our chances? shocker.

anyway, slick is right--i don't see how we receive a player in a S&T and not get worse in the process this summer.

but we have a lot of other avenues available to us. including simply returning the team that would be hoisting a second consecutive trophy a few days from now if the two stars weren't injured.

Shams just posted an updated rumor article with The Athletic

    Simmons is being shopped
    Other tidbits...
    - Collins' value increased to a max slot w/ Mavs, Heat, SA, and Minny expected to pursue.
    - Knicks are most aggressive team after Sexton
    - Rockets trying to move up for #1 pick and also shopping Eric Gordon
    - Pelicans won't match a significant offer for Zo. Bulls and Clippers are among the teams interested (Clippers?... how?)

Trading Simmons will be difficult, because if you want an all-star player for him, it's likely a guy who made all-star by shooting and scoring the ball, and you're now trading him for Ben who is, essentially, a playmaker/defender. He would need to be absolutely perfect fit for the new team. He's literally a 14% career shooter from 3. I don't even know how this is possible. Dwight Howard shot better for 3 in his long career, seriously.

Ben Simmons is a Draymond type player. He has a unique skillset that needs certain players around him to flourish.

I wouldn't give a max to Collins if I was a GM. Good player though

I think we will have a few blockbuster moves this season

If I'm the Mavs, I probably would and try to find a way to get rid of the Unicorn. I think he'd thrive next to Luka. But out of those teams, I don't if I'm Miami or Minny. Not sure what SA is doing or what direction they're going in.

I like John Collins, he isn't a franchise player, but he would be a great third option on a lot of teams. Maybe second guy on a few. It will be interesting to see what offers he gets.

Marc Stein on the Simmons rumors (in the article), here's how it relates to us.... It doesn't. BUT we are after a difference making playmaker and Zo is on that list :Vogelheaving:
