only one year needs to be guaranteed, so, in essence, they can be 1 year deals. they just can't be instant expirings like in the old days.

why would okc care? they'd be getting out of the second year of kemba's salary in the process. it's not like they're trying to win games.

Think Handy is on the phone back to Vogel and FO, “don’t you dare let this kid get away ….. he’s already better with a whole off season still to go”?

Heard a trade scenario I liked:

    We receive Ingles
    Utah receive Kuz + something

Makes ton of sense for both teams. Ingles would thrive alongside LeBron and AD

They have enough shooting throughout the roster, they lack athleticism. Only have Royce O'neale in the wing capable of guarding the Kawhis and Paul George of the league.

The "+ something" would depend on their motivation to release Joe.
If we throw the 22nd pick, do you think they wouldn't do it?

I would avoid losing the pick as much as we could this offseason, btw

I love Ingles. If they want to do that trade, sign me up. Great upgrade for us. He’s such a good player. Would be a great fit for us.

Ahah indeed. And Kuzma is definitely not the guy to guard them as a primary option. The thing is that if I was Utah, I would gamble on his ceiling, these type of franchises need to take this kind of risks. A 1st round pick may sweeten the deal

It was an idea discussed by Cranjis and LFR on one of their podcasts. They suggested Utah would consider it because they get 8 years younger with Kuz and more athletic. It also gives them some roster flexibility up front in that Kuz can play 3-4. But, I would question why Utah would give us a killer 3 point specialist which is only going to make beating us more difficult. Doubt it would ever happen.

yes, let's take the guy the other team is trying to move and give them another high iq glue guy who could really fix a lot of their offensive issues.

i mean, great if it can happen, but i don't see it. i will say this: kuz is an upgrade on niang, but they'd be robbing peter to pay paul.

Saw this one making the rounds.

Beyond the different names being tossed about, I think its clear we are actively shopping guys and seeing what deals are available.

I definitely expect a couple of guys to end up traded.

I would be good with derozan. I really think Kuz is getting traded for someone.

I get the sense THT is channeling Julius Randle’s physical and skills improvement regimen the summer Magic requested 5% body fat and JR gave him 3% ;) and has continued improving ever since. At a younger age starting point. Being that Talen is a strong and physical player already with polished skills in important areas which are being honed and added to by his work with P. Handy, who has worked with the best including Kobe ….. there is no way he is or should be in any deal IMO before we get a look at him through at least the trade deadline. We’ll have a much better idea of his future when we see the results of his work this full off-season.

I agree, unless THT is required for some crazy deal like Dame. Then everyone except LeBron and AD goes.

Dame or Beal. The one I'm torn on is Turner. He's not near the level of those two, but his fit next to AD and the damage that frontcourt duo could do... push come to shove, I think I do that deal, too.

I would do THT for Beal also. Not for Turner. Turner is a perfect 5 for AD, and I want him bad. But, I think we could get him for the likes of Kuz / KCP / #22 without having to include THT.

Sabonis is the only PF on their roster. Slide him to small ball 5, and slot Kuz in as starting 4 and KCP along side Brogdan and LaVert, and they have a solid starting 5. It would just depend on if Jim Carrey is willing to part with Turner's defense.

    To piggyback on this...

Pop would have to have an obsession with Kuz. That's the only way I can see this happening this off season. Think we missed our shot last summer. Hope I'm wrong though.
