They might have hesitated before these Playoffs, but I think they just match him at this point... The one they're likely to jettison is Lee and they can get a nice prospect back for him probably.

They should keep Lee and send Bogut to the glue factory. Either way, I think they find a way for the "voice of the team" to stay.

Yeah. They really only have to worry about heavy taxes for one season if they can't find a taker for Lee. And I can think of a couple teams who would love to have Lee. Lee would be a great backup plan for the Rockets.

He'd be a great backup plan for us too. Good professional, underrated player. He'd be a good get if we could get some other asset out of them as well. Something like:

Lee/2016 1st for some combination of Kelly/Young/#27 or something like that. Maybe you throw in Sacre or Brown. Heck maybe they want Hill too, but that wouldn't save them much money.

Could see the Hawks being interested, but the only real trade assets they would want to part with would be either of their FAs if they leave (Millsap, Carroll) and if they're ready to pull the trigger on Teague. None of those guys would be what GS is looking for, so that'd require a 3rd team to facilitate a deal.

If they win the chip, Lee will be more than happy to leave for more minutes with a contending team or one on the rise. That will free up money for Green. Bogut will stay...they will still need that big body in the middle. Donut hole offense/defense will not carry them through the regular season. Unless of course Ezeli develops a game during the offseason.

There was mention of Mike Dunleavy Jr. here for the 3. He is a good outside shooter and will provide space. Intriguing to pair him with Kelly at the Stretch 4.

Yes, they will max Lee. They'll get rid of Lee in the process, though. The owner for GS seems rather reluctant to pay luxury taxes...

I assume you mean green, and yes, they'll max him. I don't agree with real that lee will deliver them an asset. they killed his value by sitting him behind not just green but speights' fat a**. I think they'll have to attach an asset (probably a first rounder) to move him for salary relief, like they did when they moved rj/biedrins to get iggy.

assuming the lakers strike out in FA again, I'd imagine they'll look at this option.

Clippers make trade, and our old friend Matt Barnes might be in play. Any takers? He's cheap!

The Los Angeles Clippers have traded for Lance Stephenson, agreeing to send Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes to the Charlotte Hornets.

Stephenson has two years left on his contract, but the 2016-17 season is a team option of $9.4 million.

Hawes has three years and $17 million-plus left on a free-agent deal that he signed in summer 2014.

The Hornets will likely buy out Barnes' contract before July 1, when they would only have to pay him $1 million of the $3.5 million owed him.

I said this months ago in the trade discussion thread. Lee's salary is a bit much, though. I haven't put much thought into how much compensation I would ask for if I'm Mitch if we're seriously considering this option. 15 million dollars cuts deep into our cap space. What Lee does provide though is a window to allow Randle to develop with no pressure of being thrust into the starting position. Actually, I feel this way about both our prospects. Definitely a consideration and not something I would 'seriously' consider unless I struck out in FA...

Last year we inquired about Stephenson. Charlotte wanted Clarkson; we didn't want to give him up. Thus, no deal every transpired...

    Interesting Potential Lineup...

    Okafor / Black / Davis
    Randle / Davis / Kelly
    David Lee / Matt Barnes
    Kobe / Nick Young
    Clarkson /

Versatile, skilled, lots of multi-position capable players, size, can go small/big, mix of youth and veterans

    unaccounted for:
    Sacre
    Boozer
    Lin
    Price
    Johnson
    Vander Blue
    Brown
    Ellington
    Lin
    Hill

Possibilities of sign and trades exist if we lock in a free agent. Pretty sure if we can cook up crap like this, Mitch will come up with something better.

He will. I'm not of the belief we're starting Randle/Okafor. Just not happening...coming off the two worst seasons in Los Angeles, and where fans want results, Mitch has to put a competitive product on the floor that competes for the 8th seed. As much as I like both of our prospects, it would be very difficult to contend for PO seed with two rookies starting...

Well Lee is under contract still. They'll try to move him.

And yes I'm definitely interested in adding Barnes back for our bench unit, especially if we move Nick Young.

Hmmm...then I guess he has no say where he ends up. Barnes will not likely come back to the Lakers given how he had an unflattering view of management.

I think after seeing how Clarkson developed with playing time, whether they start or not, they do need to get ample playing time to develop and gain the confidence needed. Fans can get behind young players when there is something to look forward to for sure.

This is how I feel. I remember being excited about the Lakers when they had Van Exel, Jones and Ceballos. They weren't wining quite yet, but they were young and exciting. I think I watched almost every game from that 94-96 period. I knew they didn't have a prayer of winning it all, but it was exciting to see what we were building. In the end none of those guys really contributed to a ring unless you count what they were traded for (Jones/Rice, Ceballos/Horry, Vlade/Some High School kid)

I remember the high school kid....LOL...had the big head and copied all MJ's moves thinking he was going to be better. Not 1. Not 2. Not 3. 4. 4 .... freaking air balls in a row same game in crunch time against Utah in playoffs and they lost the game. Then reality set in for him. He needed to get his butt back in the gym that same night and keep shooting and shooting and shooting.

We be going to have not 1 .... not 2 .....not 3 ..... but 4 or more of these young and talented "gym rats" working their butts off for the P&G again. WooHoo!

I do hope these guys all look at each other and realize the opportunity they have to make something special out of this situation. Let's say we get Tobias Harris and McDaniels (I use Harris as the example because of how young he is compared to Green and Carroll). Okafor, Randle, Harris, Clarkson, McDaniels and Black would have the opportunity to form something very special. It's not often a group of young kids that are that talented are all brought together at such an early part of their development. They would playing together for 4-5 years before they even hit their primes. They could become a machine. and unlike other teams, if they won, they'd all get paid because the Lakers can afford to go over the cap.
