I could see Portland offering Nurkic, Powell-or-Covington and Collins + picks for KAT.

I just don't think KAT moves the needle that much for Portland. I think he's pretty overrated. And his attitude has always been a question. Lillard doesn't strike me as the type of person who suffers fools.

so...exactly what i said? thus, there is not an actual hard cap. look up "hard cap". "there are situations that can trigger a hard cap, and signing your own player isn't one of them" was my literal quote.

    your own words:

    simply not true.

No. Let me be clearer, we can sign our own free agents to any amount over the cap. That isn't a hard cap scenario. Except in one circumstance. if we were to receive a player that was S&T by his team. We could not go over the hard capped amount of 138 million or so. That would include Bird rights for our own free agents. It clearly states that once you are hard capped by one of the three actions. You can not go over the hard cap apron under any circumstances. Not except with the exception of the Bird rights. It's a moot point because we are looking to send a player out by that, not recieve one.

Name one team that was hard capped and resigned their Bird rights player above the tax apron and hard cap.

so your argument is that golden state, brooklyn, and the lakers cannot re-sign their stars if it's going to take them over the apron? you can't be serious.

you were reporting misinformation, and i corrected you.

https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2020/11... a club uses the, remainder of the league year.

just those three things. if you don't do any of those, you can use bird rights to blow past the apron, as the nets and golden state have done.

if we use the BAE, the full MLE or receive a signed-and-traded player, we get hard-capped. many teams do these things, but it doesn't matter because they're far from the lux tax. it would matter to us. if we use the full MLE, then i believe our contracts to AC and THT couldn't push us over the hard cap. this, however, could be solved by re-ordering those signings, i believe. still, though, you'd be hard-capped at the end, which could reduce trade flexibility to some degree (for this year).

tl;dr: there is no hard cap in the nba. only a few things trigger it. we will see if we do any of them.

SMH...I posted this link from hoopsrumors.com first. You are just repeating what I already posted. Again...No you can't go over the apron if you are hard capped for any reason period, including resigning your own free agents. That's all I said...I don't know why you keep bringing up the part about Bird Rights signings don't trigger a hard cap, I know that, I posted that link. I don't understand what misinformation you feel that you corrected.

i posted your direct quote implying that you can't sign your own FAs. that was the misinformation. it implied the nba has a hard cap, which it doesn't.

I don’t even know what the argument is anymore, but kudos for not making personal attacks at one another.

The argument is about two people who are both wrong who think they are right. But they aren't.

i really need to know what i said that was wrong now. i pushed back on the idea that you can't sign your own players if you're over the lux tax/apron. and that's objectively correct unless all of the several sources i provided are also wrong.

we can't use full MLE, the BAE, or accept someone in sign and trade if we want to spend more than 135 or so on the roster, which we probably do.

but if we want to sign caruso to a max deal, we can do it, no matter where it puts us--as long as we haven't done one of those three things.
