So, the Suns have good depth, Ayton did better than Gobert due to his mobility, Book went off for 40 and Phoenix won. So far, so good. PG had a good game, but they can't have their role players play out of their mind every time. If they don't have Kawhi and CP3 returns soon, this isn't going to be too difficult for the Suns, I don't think.

Also, you guys might hate me for this, but Booker has the most Kobe-like tendencies in the game right now. Some of his midrange game today and the way he does the "heat check" instantly reminded me of young Kobe.

^I always thought Booker's game emulated Kobe the most out of anyone in the league.

Yeah, you can watch the 9-minute replay on YouTube already. Those midrange pullups are vintage Kobe. Book obviously studied Kobe's game and worked hard on those moves. He's very talented.

Booker collapses an interior defense and is able to pass find an open teammate on the perimeter. Very good court awareness on his part.

That J is picture perfect. Knows how to find the open spots and get separation. It sets him apart from Mitchell who either a long range deuce/trey or bulling to the cup.

    Decent defender as well...

Just 1 game in the series...The Other L.A. Team can score in droves.

i think mitchell can do midrange as well as booker and has been asked not to. booker and mitchell remind me of each other in that they blossomed when they were paired with a vet floor leader.

still mad kobe didn't get to play with prime cp3. just irks all day.

Well, looks like CP3 will end up getting rest while the Suns keep winning. Could be blessing in disguise.

I think Suns are going to win the chip if CP3 comes up healthy and has no COVID protocol.

Kawhi hurt his knee and is out for at least a few games. CP3 is out for health and safety protocol.

Milwaukee may have something to say about that. They're the healthiest team left and have the most complete roster out of the 4 remaining

Did we ever hear, or anyone see him grimace as to the pain, how badly his ACL or MCL (?) on which knee got tweaked? Was he in a lot of pain and had to be helped to the locker room, or just limped on his own? Or maybe didn't even leave the floor? Which is the worse one ... ACL or MCL?

i think acl is worse, but neither really allows you to play, right? i find it very strange that there's been no announcement of the details. they clearly know what the injury is and have known for a while.

i haven't seen the press asking or speculating about it, either, which is also strange. it's like everyone has just agreed to ignore it.

Not sure why the media isn't covering it.

I think it's bad and that's why they're hush hush about it. If it's like Klay's, then he and the Clipps are done next year.

yeah, right after, there was public speculation about it being a torn acl (supposedly based on internal sources). but is there any reason not to tell people about it? has it ever taken a full week to report such a thing?

edit: looked a bit, and it seems folks are calling it a sprained acl--though again, nobody has officially declared it. in theory then, he may be able to play again in the playoffs. though...i'd be careful about it if i were the clips. awkward situation with him having the shorter contract, for both parties. in our case with AD, it was easy: he's under contract long-term and we won the title last year.

this may be their best chance, and he's not under contract after next year.

In my head, it's either A) to keep the Suns guessing and unable to gameplan for series. B) it's bad, he's going to miss next season and they don't want that to be THE storyline over their playoff run.

Yes I think ACL is worse. Clippers gave the excuse that they were waiting for the swelling to go down so they could get better imaging on the knee. No way they don’t know by now the extent of the issue. There’s been so many injuries and firing that the press has had lots to talk about but there’s no reason (other than Ballmer bucks) not to be discussing Kawhi injury.
