3 big problems this offseason: one upfront mistake, one justifiable poor prediction, one totally out of control
-Upfront mistake - The Trez signing never made sense: he had trouble in last years post-season and he can't shoot.
-One poor prediction - Schroder shot 38,5% from 3 last year and he's regressed despite getting better overall looks
-out of control - short off-season

Short off season just killed this team: Boston, Miami, LAL all have looked old and tired. Denver has been beaten up but they have ridiculous roster depth

I would resign THT for his potential, Caruso and think about ditching Trez, Gasol, DS, etc. Charlotte's Graham could be a great fit at the PG spot, Damian Jones for the backup C spot.
Maybe take a shot at some guy like Justice Winslow?

We had the freshest legs out of any of the teams who went deep. I get Bron and AD being tired and hurt. What's the excuse for the wanna be $20 million dollar man and our other new additions? Isn't this why we signed and traded for them?

Specifically tonight, the team came out with zero fire, heart, or self respect.

It is what it is: The 3 best players from the Finals (AD/KCP/Lebron) all were hurt and you could see the same thing with Miami. neither Bam nor Butler looked right except for in spurts

Lakers thought the series was over at 2-1 and relaxed in Game 4.

This is when the series was (likely) lost

My only hope is that the same applies to Phoenix. They get cocky with their 3-2 lead, don’t have the same fire in Game 6, then anything happens in a Game 7.

Unfortunately... I have a feeling it goes the opposite direction. After such a crushing victory today, Phoenix is supremely confident and plays free in Game 6.

Yeah could have a 2018 Cavs-C Bags type of scenario with Suns easily winning Game 5 and s***ting their pants in Game 7 but Lebron isn't on the same level anymore.

I remember when we were saying, "damn, what a great offseason", "Rob killed it", "sick roster from 1 to 12" etc. Little did we know...

I just cannot get over the abysmal shooting. We've been grumbling about that for YEARS here, but it's always been a little humorous, we never talked about it like it was fatal. But tonight, you just KNEW the threes weren't going in, even when these guys were wide open. I would give anything to surround LeBron and AD with some snipers next season, but I'm beginning to think the basketball gods simply won't allow it.

Anyway, I can't say I'm heartbroken or anything. We just won a ring, and it's not like we lost to the C Bags in the Finals or something. But MAN what a good old-fashioned a**-kicking that was. Sheesh.

reminds me of the 2010 offseason when they signed blake and barnes. 2011 team was better on paper than 2010 and look how that turned out

Yup, just as I mentioned in the series thread. Phx was going to come out with guns a blazing in game 4. It was not going to be easy, and we let up, plus AD got injured. That turned the tide and now we’re drowning in it.

Part of me wants the Lakers to just bring back everyone (well except Shroder) and see if the shooting will improve after a full and proper off season and training camp where players can rest, heal, re-integrate, and most importantly stew in the embarrassment that is our shooting this season.

Honestly I can’t be too mad. Like I said, no AD, no chip. I wholeheartedly believe we would have repeated as champs had we all been healthy.

Heck it almost doesn’t matter what role players we have on our team. A healthy Bron and AD are automatic Finals contenders.

I’m going to blame this year on injuries. It sucks but it happens to the best of us. This team is like the ‘03-‘04 Lakers, just too many injuries to overcome, otherwise both squads would have been some of the best teams ever assembled.

It’s been fun while we were healthy. Seriously it was. Let’s try to stay healthy next year, and in Pelinka I trust.

    GO LAKE SHOW! Peace out.

im opposite, all of the role players are way to streaky/inconsistent, moving every 1 except big 2 n tht, ac if it less than 10

My take on 3 point shooting is that it’s generally predicated on running a well-oiled half court offense. Duncan Spurs were the perfect example. That was never really our M.O. Half our offense came from Bron and AD doing superstar things, and the other half was a combo of stifling defense leading to fast break slam dunks, and surprise back door cuts.

I hardly saw much good ball movement this year. 75% of games were let’s pass it here or pass it there, not sure what we’re doing, oh doesn’t work, hmm, pass it to LeBron or AD to bail us out or jack up a 3 at the buzzer.
