Valiant effort tonight. Good to see AD back to being AD.

 

AD looks like he hasn't given up and has some belief that this team will make it to the postseason. That's good

 

I'm not 100% sure we end up in play-in, Blazers still need to play Jazz, Suns and Nuggets until the end of the reg season.

hopeful that we stay in the 7 spot and GS stays in that 8 spot. we should be able to beat memphis or SA in a single play-in game, or in the worst case, one of them in a sudden-death second game. then we get utah or phx in round 1 (and the highest possible draft pick we'll probably have for years).

only real nightmare scenario is that we lose to mem/SA, and one of them also beats GS. of course, silver would have a freaking heart attack, seeing the possibility of GS and la both losing out and having mem/SA/utah/phx playoff matchups (play-in accomplishes EXACT OPPOSITE of intention)

anyway, i'm pretty confident we'll get in, probably at 7, playing phx in round one, which is better than 6, playing the clippers in round one. i also like the clippers drawing portland instead of dallas.

in short, i like the standings exactly as they are today. would i prefer we were in the 1 or 2 spot (where we'd have been minus devastating injuries)? yes. but we'll be in the same bracket anyway, facing the clippers in a later round instead of the first one.

 

I think if we end up 7th we would have to play GS first and if we loose to them then we would play the winner of Mem-SA for the 8th spot.
But i totally agree with you. I‘d rather play Phoenix or Utah in the first round than the Clipps.

and you are right (had to look it up). so this means that the 9 or 10 MUST get a chance to make the playoffs. there is no scenario in which they both just lose and sit. and that's ridiculous.

i get why they had to arrange it that way (else there would have to be contingency games to make it "fair"), but the hoops they had to jump through just to make this work should have been the red flag.

again, last year's model made more sense, and it was still sorta dumb.

 

We matchup pretty good with the Suns. If you throw 6-7 defenders at him you can slow him down and the Suns don't look as lethal. Booker can be rattled he has no playoff experience

 

We have a much more favorable last 4 games than the Trailblazers do.. continue playing like tonight and maybe we take back that 6th seed. We are 1 game back but they own the tie. If we win out and they lose 2 we're there.

Portland is 0-6 this season vs The Jazz, Suns & Nuggets (and actually 0-9 with the top 4 western teams)

So great to see Alex’s mom and dad sitting in the stands for that terrific game he had with the team’s win over the 2nd place Suns and him starting next to AD and his incredible performance.... on Mother’s Day.
