But it does reward sustained excellence. Those truly worthy skip the playin!

It's also a way to reduce the length of the season going forward. The play in allows more revenue to offset cutting the regular season down permanently

Eh, I didn’t say sustained excellence, I said sustained winning, if you win enough games to get in, you earned your spot over the long season. That said, IF it does allow the regular season to cut games I would be for it, my impression was they were still going to have it even when there’s 82 games. If it allows for an around or under 70 game season I’d be good with it then. The part I can’t argue is that no 6 seed or lower ever wins the title anyway, so it’s not really going to change things in that regard.

misleading stat, no way is this really the best defensive team in the league, they're constantly getting killed on PnR n other side they hardly ever run PnR themselves, you got the best pt. forward in the gm and supposedly the best big man in AD and rarely do you see them running PnR....Haliburton/Holmes destroyed us on their PnR, just like Luka n Powell in the dall gms

    Hakeem Olajuwon says hi. :p

But seriously I do agree with your sentiment for the most part. I think 75 rs games is a good number and yes I pulled that number out of my a$$.

play-in game is stupid. why reward sh*tty teams with a chance at making the playoffs?

"10th place finish but it's ok, you still have a chance at the playoffs." ridiculous

Just a (kind of weird) way to make things interesting because the 1st vs 8th and 2nd vs 7th series are boring/not close more often than not .

Plus it's another attempt to force the fans to watch the NBA future darling in Zion and I'm glad it failed once again

A lot wrong with this team and it’s schemes.

3 pointers a problem since late January. Don’t see it being fixed now.

yeah, not a fan of the play-in. think it would make more (though still not enough, imo) sense if it was utilized more like last year's--where it depended upon proximity of record and it's just for 8th place. look at the records right now in the west. portland, dallas or us will likely end up in 7th and be several games ahead of whoever's in 10th. but that team will be forced to play steph curry or greg popovich in a single game environment. that's stupid.

imagine the temptation for the league office to influence a game when the lakers might be out in favor of memphis or san antonio...yikes. anyway, that's just this year.

still, if you were 4 or 5 games better than another team, you shouldn't have to beat them to get in. why not have a full re-seeding tournament then? we're 6 games back of denver, maybe they should have to play us for the 4 seed. denver's only 3 games back of phx, maybe phx should play them to keep the 1 seed.

why not just play a very long tournament over several months, where everyone plays everyone for seeding?

Gonna see if they can build some chemistry with the full team back. They have 2 weeks to get ready for the playoffs.

First round opponent will be huge. If they get Denver, they will be very lucky. They can beat Denver with Murray being out and they can build good momentum from that.

If they play the Clippers, might have a problem there.

    Bron's comments after the game:

Even he knows father time is undefeated. On a positive note AD said something I fully believe is true:

I will remain optimistic as long as the guys feel we continue to develop chemistry and we're getting healthier. But it's hard not to be disappointed as a fan with how this season went in general.

We suck. Can’t defend pick and roll. Scrubs dunking on us all the time. Drummond won’t be able to play much. Teams are showing us that. Ad just wants to shoot jumpers after holding the ball for 8 seconds.

Cant hit 3s. Too many turnover. Dennis doesn’t really help our bigs.

but we have 9 games to switch the flips. Lol

Sometimes you mess with the chemistry of a team too much. Dwight should still be a Laker.

WMC: The fact that we are having a discussion about the merits of the play-in... That discussion being prompted by the fact that we are now dangerously close to the play-in... Because our healthy squad gave up a double digit fourth quarter deficit to lose at home against Luke Walton’s Sacramento Kings without De’Aron Fox.

Man, I know trap games happen, and shuffling so many major pieces of our lineup is going to need a bit of time to shake off rust and develop chemistry.

But that loss was REALLY deflating.

I mean..I guess it doesn’t matter where we were I’d we’re IN the actual playoffs, but if we lose the play-in game/s we won’t be in, so yeah. Stupid and dangerous to gamble on boiling the season down to 1 or 2 bad games you could have out of nowhere.

Well, AD said: "...once we reach the playoffs". I don't think they are even thinking about the possibility of not making it. Frankly, I'm not too worried about that either. I'm more worried about possible first round exit.

yeah, with each game it seems like the chances of making the finals fades a little more. it's just not our year. at this point i'm just hoping they don't end up facing the clips in the playoffs

This was a bad loss. It’s hard to think of anything we did well. The turnovers are bad enough but our 3 pointers might as well be turnovers the way we shot last night.

25%. just brutal. starting backcourt 0-10 from three. that's how you lose to the fox-less kings.
