and he's from very near there. the issue is that if dallas gets him, they'll be overloaded in the frontcourt with a very weak backcourt. i think houston's going to end up being the lakers' biggest competition for aldridge. they'll clear the decks to get him if they need to, and they could win big now if he went. the lakers could promise a better long term future, though, i think.
Not sure if this has already been posted... Lakers free agency rumors: Lakers not a 'viable option' for LaMarcus Aldridge, according to report http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2015/6/9/8752923/la-lakers-free-agent-lamarcus-aldridge-rumor
When its all said and done, I have to believe he ends up in Portland. You're right about Houston if he leaves, but I think he's staying. I gotta say I'm not sure if Aldridge works though in Houston. Dwight has shown he can't play with a player like him (see Gasol). Maybe if you're Houston, you sign Aldridge and move Dwight for a really nice package?
Bucher's point was that Aldridge doesn't want to join a rebuild AND give up money. If he wanted to join a rebuild, he'd stay in Portland where they're almost done rebuilding. Makes sense. I doubt Bucher has a legit source on that, it seems like conjecture, but it makes sense.
some similarity to pau, but Aldridge is much more fearsome from outside, draws the attention of the d to the middle of the floor like dirk, which is something modern defenses don't know what to do with. pau used the jumper as a last resort, and only when wide open. put it this way: I hope we don't see him in Houston. would hate to see those clowns get a ring.
I just don't see the long line of guys waiting to team up with Dwight at this point... I really don't think any real competitor wants to be there.
Yes it may be fair but like some have already said is our future and current situation really that much less attractive than the Mavs. Sure he is from Dallas and there is no state tax, but we will have #2, Randle, Clarkson and like JSM pointed out a ton of cap space. Mavs have an aging Dirk and we have an aging Kobe but look around our team LMA
Well Dallas is certainly more competitive than we are right now and I think that's a huge draw for a guy that's just about 30 years old.
My top somewhat realistic options: PG: Brooks, Beverley G: Monta Ellis, KJ McCDaniels Wing: Danny Green, Gerald Green Big: Biyombo, Dalembert
In that vein: Mo Williams, CJ Watson Wayne Ellington, KJ McDaniels DeMarre Carroll, Mike Dunleavy Tyson Chandler, Ed Davis
I gotta admit, when he said that, I totally pictured him going home, sitting cross-legged on the floor in a little play room and playing with Marvel action figures on some Lego fortress he spent weeks building. "pew-pew"
Chandler, who is coming off one of his best statistical campaigns, is expected to get at least a three-year, $36 million deal this summer. The Mavs would eagerly pay him market value if they aren’t successful at their one swing at a younger upgrade. ESPN.com - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.c016bG8Y.dpuf
Hmmmmm.... interesting. So we'd have to go even higher than that to get to him. Probably not feasible then. I wonder if he'd play ball with us if we offered the extra year? Dangerous game to play, but it's worth thinking about if we land Towns instead of Okafor. Towns needs at least 2 years before he really dominates down low. Chandler probably has two years of high level play left. 4/44 million to Chandler. Who says no?
Me. I like Chandler, IF we are one defensive big away from a deep playoff run. But signing him eats most of our precious cap we need for Carroll and a backup PG. I'd rather draft Okafor, keep Black and if we need a defensive big keep Davis for say 6m a year.
I would say no. Tyson will be 33 at the start of the season, paying him that kind of money at 37 doesn't seem wise, especially given his injury history. I think Chandler is an extremely high-risk signing. He had a fantastic year but he knew that he was playing for his final contract, so that extra motivation has to be factored in. I don't think that Tyson is the type of guy to get a big deal and then let himself fall to pieces, but given his age and contract status some regression is likely. With everything considered-age, salary, injury risk, etc- I wouldn't want his deal on the Lakers cap for any longer than 2 seasons. I don't think it matters much though, because if he doesn't stick with the Mavs he will want to sign with a contender. I could see him going to the Clips if the Mavs manage to sign DeAndre.
