If only Rob had a little more seasoning.

Oh hell yeah and he's young and can JUMP. We just got our vertical threat back also.

Get with him and do your thing Phil Handy. Woooo!! Got us some tall athleticism with NBA experience. Not looking at you too thin Kostas.

Well, can’t sign Whiteside at all considering he’s not a free agent ;)

But yeah, I don’t think a 10 day contract has any bearing on our hard cap flexibility (or if it does, it’s negligible). So this seems like we’re just buying time and trying to add a bit of additional depth while we see how the buyout market shapes up over the next few weeks.

Would have been a crappy look for the Lakers to waive him as soon as his brother signed long term with Bucks?

    He’ll be gone soon enough.

these rumors are weird. i mean, yes, zinger has been hurt in dallas (just as in ny), but there haven't been any rumblings about off-court stuff--all that came out from the knicks (terrible organization) side, post-trade.

it wouldn't surprise me if dallas were listening to offers or even making them, but i'd be surprised if they just dumped him. they're historically a complete also-ran on the FA market, so any improvement there needs to be made via trade, and i think zinger's value is in the gutter right now, despite him being pretty productive when healthy.

one thing to watch for, imo: cleveland might consider moving drummond for porzingis because the latter is locked into a contract, and it's worth the gamble in a city that's even less desirable to FAs than dallas.

dallas would get to try out drummond for half a season and, worst case, just start over with cap space (again, historically bad for them). cleveland isn't going to do anything of value with the space they get from drummond's departure, so taking a look at an all-star quality (though, obviously, risky) big that fits better alongside their young centers makes sense.

anyway, the lead to this piece tells me it's just hopeful knicks fan schadenfreude. they lost that trade like they lose pretty much all transactions. the picks they get from a luka-led mavs team will never be good, and they won't use them wisely anyway, because they're the knicks.

Buyout market is the way to go. Lebron/Pelinka will go to work after the trade deadline

yeah, i was so glad that they didn't bid heavily for marcus morris. got his brother on the waiver wire and now aren't on the hook at 15 per for the next 3+ years.

no way i give up a useful player or even a future 1st for a FA-to-be and 35-year old pj tucker. my a**.

guessing the lakers are registering their interest publicly so that if and when he's bought out, they can say they wanted him all along as part of their pitch.

Getting tucker on a buy out would be awesome. Another guy to throw at KL, Porter, Covington, Utah’s wings and to bang with PFs we may face in the playoffs, with that corner 3 to space on offense. Prefer him to Cousins

    A closing defensive-switching team:
    Alex/KCP/Wes
    Kuz
    Bron
    AD
    Tucker

Lots of these teams are hoping the trade market heats up with the contenders but not sure how many teams can afford to take on big salary this year with lower attendance. There might be a ton of buyouts

Players have to agree to a buyout, though. And with all the messiness going on with COVID and having to relocate their family, etc., as well as likely taking less $, it's probably going to be a tough buyout market this season.

To be honest, the playoffs should've been in a bubble again. This way you don't risk a player getting infected and possibly ruining the team's chances of competing for a title. If they made it this far, a small COVID test involving a team could be the end of it for them. Maybe it's selfish for me to suggest it but it would've made the most sense. UFC does the same albeit it's for a couple of weeks only right up until their fights. One of the biggest fears I personally have is LeBron or AD having a positive COVID test. We would have zero chance.
