Who gives a s***? Players know. Agents know. That's all that matters. History will remember this though:
Stiffing Jeanie like that, with Ballmer winning, after what we accomplished last season, is like “hold all our beers” to giving their guy the GM or executive of the year award after trading their future for Paul George to appease and sign Leonard both of whom also failed. Make a f****** banner for each of those awards you f****** losers.
Who ARE these “insiders” and what exactly has has Ballmer done to earn this kind of award besides replace a racist, nasty previous owner? Not to mention allegedly his big money buying media spin for their team and alledgedly cheating with under the table perks like a luxury house bought for the Snake (coming out in the information on this lawsuit against Jerry West). While Jeanie played by the rules and told him No.
Awesome, nedded the laughs. NBA awards and "surveys" were/are always a joke. MVP, DPOY, COTY, best gm, best owner... good thing we cover what really matters. Now let's go and get that 18th trophy
Nice article about Jeanie for sure. And illustrates the idiocy of whoever the NBA "Insiders" were that left her off of the list of "best owners" especially after overcoming all the difficulties of the last 7 or so years since Dr Buss died .... to win the NBA title this year. Clowns.
Read that article this morning - great stuff. Finally getting her "damned respect" in the words of Lebron. I love it. A whole lot of folks even at CL were ripping on Jeannie equally with Jim Buss and Mitch which I didn't like at all, saying both she and Jim needed to get it together. As I argued then, Jeannie always HAD it together. She is the true heir to the Lakers leadership - a chip off the old block from the good Doctor. Dimwit brother on the other hand has always been a knucklehead. Huge props to Jeannie for taking control of the reigns and booting him and eldest brother Johnny. Like the Mandalorian she was entrusted with protecting the family's baby - the Lakers. This last championship belongs to Jeannie, and signing Lebron and turning this franchise around is her accomplishment and legacy. Great to see her get some credit at last.
Rescuing the “Queen of Dragons” from the ignominy of page 2 ... and from LB’s own newsfeed: https://lakersnation.com/lakers-new...willingness-to-go-over-luxury-tax/2021/03/10/
That's great to see and I've believed all the way that Jeannie would be willing to go further into luxury tax to keep contending with Lebron and AD. That's what a good owner does. Get another ring or two while you can and you have them together. I don't think you'll see us let go of either Caruso or THT. I wonder though, what is the state of negotiation with Schroder? He's eligible now for the longer and higher contract, and of course he bought that new house here. I would have thought that we would have heard by now that he had signed the new extension. Maybe coming up soon?
A week ago Bill Oram wrote an article on the hug Jeanie gave Trezz. Don't think it got nearly enough attention and it's truly what separates her from the pack in the way that our players are treated by the organization. Here's the relevant parts from his article with The Athletic I know that's not why she did it, but I could see that factoring in to Trezz's decision this summer. He's an emotional guy going through a lot and being treated like family and being apart of such a close group seems to keep him going. Just taking a guess, but I think that is worth more to him than a few extra $ on a disconnected team with a front office who isn't involved.
Thanks so much for circling back to this Atlantic article with some of the excerpts JSM. I saw it when first posted and definitely wanted to read it but don’t have the subscription. Much appreciated.
