If I'm a teammate, I'm not cool with that. You're blowing off training camp to go on a night club/strip club tour? Rest of them are expected to report while he's out there wilding out in covid hot beds?

When he does decide to show up, he'll still be a week out from being able to join the team due to testing protocols. Great team chemistry building exercises. New coach, new running mate, and he's missing in action. Shows what he's about and where his priorities are.

Now when this starts costing the team with fines and loss of draft picks, then do they trade him or sit him for the season? If that's his plan, that's a selfish a** play. They should trade him to somewhere like Indy, good luck with the night life there.

 

i mean, harden only cares about one person. this has always been true. and houston has enabled him from day one. they deserve it.

tbh, he'll show up fat and score 35 a game and people will say "what's the problem?" but there's a problem.

I wholeheartedly hope kids don't emulate his playing style. I wouldn't be able to handle it if his off-Broadway theater mentality catches on and becomes popular.

kind of enjoying this little temper tantrum... you reap what you sow... off the deep end, which is pretty standard for this character.

i don't get why houston doesn't trade him

do they really think they'll contend for a title with harden and wall? there's no guarantee they'll even make the playoffs with that roster. why not just deal him, get a bunch of young guys and picks in return, and begin rebuilding?

 

he tanked his value a bit by letting his request go public and then doubling down on it. looking like a paul george situation, wherein houston might have to send him to a surprise destination for less than market value, and basically everyone loses.

he's under contract for two full years, though, which does change things. he's so eager to win a ring (supposedly), but he can't just walk any time soon.

barring a PG situation, i still think he ends up in philly (not brooklyn). morey wants him; and his former assistant is in charge in houston. these deals happen all the time in the nba. houston will get one of embiid/simmons and not much else.

 

i believe his last year is a player option which will give him some leverage NEXT season.

... as for this season however...

 

League might have to get involved...
