Now there is absolutely zero dispute that Rob is the Exec of the year after this offseason. What he has done is turn the Lakers into championship repeat favorites adding younger pieces to our team and locking down 2 of the top three players in the league for the foreseeable future on multi year deals. Unreal.
Probably so or they'll give it to Presti for stockpiling a million picks while his actual track record is taking a Finals team brimming with talent to lottery team status in just 8 years, letting go of THREE MVP's in the process. Pathetic. But everyone loves the guy for some reason.
Well the 7th man Minnesota just gave 4 years/60 million to is in the news for cheating on his wife with Scottie Pippen’s ex. Now I’m realizing this may all be a ploy to raise Malik Beasly’s name recognition so that people will overhype his performance and contribute to stealing Executive of the Year from Rob!
How did Bron and AD getting these max signings affect us on the cap this year? Did it put us into the penalty tax? Which of course would be well worth it. Just wondering how the FO novice he is did in that regard?
Lakers always had enough for AD's max. Bron's deal is just an extension. He's going to be making the same money this season regardless of the deal. On a side note, I really hope Rob stays with the Lakers for the next 20+ years. This guy is truly a player's GM. If you're an NBA superstar or vet trying to win, the Lakers is now the #1 franchise to play for. Superstars are treated as partners of the team and vets are treated like an important piece of the franchise. Unlike the C Bags... when was the last time an unrestricted free agent signed with Boston? Kyrie left... Hayward left... No wonder C Bags love their picks so much. They are the only assets they can get that they know won't leave
So Rob still needs help? Hope Vash was able to enjoy the way this all played out. He always said he would if it came to pass. I believe he was telling the truth in spite of that crazy 7 months or so after Magic did what he did and continued to do.
I think we all subtly bullied Vash in some way. I hope he returns. I thought his position was fair but with the Lakers winning it and AD signing long-term, it's the deal of the century for the Lakers.
No. There was absolutely no reason to keep hammering on the multitude of points that he did when we all understood his opinions and the logic or illogic behind them over and over and over, with absolutely nothing we as fans could do about them anyway. It was maddening.
Vash's opinions on Rob and Magic are not why he isn't around anymore. You can have good opinions, bad opinions, nonsensical opinions...what you can't do is be aggressive and antagonistic towards other members. EDIT: Except Punk 101. It's open season on that guy.
Wasn't posing any opinion on why he was gone of course as I don't know. Even posted openly right after it happened hoping there might be a rethinking of the ban as I have mentioned before that before this period he was always one of my favorite members here with his knowledge and his style and way with words.
I thought he was openly belligerent to staff and ignored multiple warnings, so there’s no way he’s coming back if true. (Unless amends are made maybe?) I do miss his input, and we had a fun back and forth. The guy was pretty brilliant, and loved his mastery of the salary cap. I tracked him down to stay in touch after it happened, and to say thanks/apologize/check in on him. At the time I felt maybe external forces were at play because he wasn’t the same cheerful guy as usual. Always hate to see longtime members depart. Even if it’s kissing cousins or that one weird uncle, it’s part of what makes a family. He’ll forever be remembered here. I think over time we discover there are different seasons of life, constantly shifting priorities, and a fan forum full of fellow fans may not always fit in our top 10 things we make time for. lots of members I can recall through the years that I enjoyed the posts of. Some are gone after Kobe’s career ended, Kobe passed, we signed Lebron, traded our youngsters, or as life took on different priorities. For awhile this year I wasn’t sure if I was coming back or not. But surely as one of us falls off, there’s someone new ready to infuse new life into the community with thoughtful input and passion.
Yeah, Zen is right, he still won’t get it. They’ll give it to whoever is in charge in Atlanta because they squeak into the playoffs, or Lawrence Frank will repeat for signing Ibaka. It’s the same type of thing as Phil Jackson having one coach of the year award and Shaq and Kobe having one MVP each, there are some people that the voters just don’t want/like to reward. The justification for Rob not winning again will be that Klutch did everything and since other exes vote on exec of the year and openly hate Rich Paul, they won’t vote for Rob.
