They'll somehow twist these moves as part of Klutch machinations, so Rob won't get credit for his brilliance
the only way he doesn't unanimously get Exec of the year is if every one of these additions go sideways. None of these signings are risky or gambles, so I don't see that happening. He's out here playing chess while 26 other GMs haven't even set up their checkerboard yet.
If i hear the checkers/chess quote, one more time, I swear, im gonna read it again and just sit here imagining what id like to do instead of actually doing it.
I have them as the current 3rd best team in the West and I don't think it's close. Behind us and then the tenants. They had a great off season. Second best to us (big gap though). The other western teams... Denver- got worse Houston- stick 2 forks in them OKC- tank mode Jazz- stagnant Mavs- slight improvements Memphis- grew up a little Suns- playoffs thanks to CP Pelicans-SVG and Adams lock them into a bottom playoff seed probably GS- done without Klay Other teams aren't worth mentioning So how are they not 3rd if they stay healthy?
Houston is an interesting case. They may just run it back. The offers are going to be much better in the offseason when there's fewer years left on those two's contracts. Teams that miss out on Giannis/AD/PG/Kawhi in summer of 2021 might try to salvage their offseason and take Russ or Harden. I can see HOU finishing in the top 10 1) Denver (because of MPJ + Murray + Jokic making leaps) 2) Lakers (chillin and getting ready for playoffs) 3) Mavs (Luka might be MVP this year) 4) Clippers (we might see these guys actually play more and not load manage) 5) Suns (CP3 took his team to be 5th last year. With Booker + Ayton they're gonna be a handful) 6) Blazers (CJ and Dame can't count em out) 7) Warriors (Healthy Curry + decent supporting cast might give you problems until 2nd round) 8) Jazz (I can't recall anything they did this offseason other than the Mitchell extension) 9) Houston (I think they'll patch up) 10 ) Minny (Rubio + KAT + DLo) If we play our game and dictate our style on the court, ain't none of these teams beating us in a 7 game series as constructed . Depending on health, the Western Conference could be a crapshoot. Eastern Conference top heavy as well. Rest of the conference meh 1) MIL 2) MIA 3) PHI 4) BOS 5) BKN 6) TOR??
It can't be said enough. Rob is absolutely killing it. Wow. All upgrades. Nothing killing our future.
A lot of us are indeed being proven wrong. And I mean us, I put myself high on that list, I was hoping he’d have someone hired above him when Magic left, I doubted he could do the job of putting together a championship roster with such little experience, that we weren’t going after big names like Meyers and Ujiri was frustrating. But I get it now, the Lakers do things a different way, and it’s led to a lot of success to put it mildly. I honestly am struggling to remember an offseason where I wasn’t sitting nervous and living and dying with every signing and all the guys we were missing out on. This offseason has been the opposite of that, we just kept signing useful players and it was fun to see the roster come together, and we aren’t even done yet
