Lakers better get some size in the backcourt asap. SF's are going to kill us.

Whiteside isn't an elite defender, though. I don't know why he has gotten that reputation. There's a reason why the Heat and Portland weren't using him despite his numbers looking very good. He chases blocks all game so people think he's better than he really is. Calling Dwight and Javale stupid and dumb is just disgusting from a fan.

Marc’s cerebral approach and passing would be great.

Just saw the following, so thought I'd piggyback of my previous post....

Knicks roster is now full. So that's going to make a McGee trade a little trickier

They were vet minimum players one of which came into the season late into free agency when our only other options were Noah and Mo Speights. Did you guys expect to get Shaq or something?

lebron, matthews, and kuz are all capable of defending sfs. i mean, nobody has a kawhi stopper. except kawhi's legs.

hope so; love m. gasol. know he's old, but we only need 20mpg of his brand of greatness. he's my pipe dream of rehabilitated cousins, tbh.

Didn't he lead the league in blocks?

i don't know if calling dwight and mcgee dumb is disgusting, but the contention that whiteside led the league in blocks doesn't refute bbp's point. whiteside keeps finding himself shuffled around because something doesn't click. much like WCS--who seems like a good enough guy, but he just doesn't know how to be part of a winning basketball team. this skill is underrated.

it's why i think if we can't get gasol, baynes would be great, as would taj gibson. they know how to be part of things and maximize their skills within a successful system. whiteside needs to prove this is possible.

Frankly, we probably don't even need 20 minutes. 15 would be plenty.

LOL. We're talking about the veterans minimum, not anything more. If he's bad then cut him. Low risk, high reward. A bunch of guys that got "shuffled around" have been on this team recently. Lance, Beas, Rondo, Dwight, JR, Dion, javale, etc. Some worked out, some didn't. A lot of us miss some of these guys that were shuffled around. How did that stop us from winning a championship? We need centers to protect the paint. This shouldn't be this difficult lol

Yes, and that's my point regarding me saying Hassan chases the blocks. He'll get out of position to run out and try to block a shot leaving the opposition wide open to score. Having a high amount of blocks doesn't make you an automatically elite defender. Allen Iverson led the league in steals for more than a few seasons and he was a bad defender because he mainly played passing lanes and gambled a lot on those. Whiteside led the league in blocks and didn't receive any all-NBA defense votes. The fact that he isn't getting much interest despite leading the league in blocks is pretty telling as to something else going on.

It's the veterans minimum. We had Cacock on the team. If you don't think Whiteside is more helpful with leading the league in blocks than Cacock then idk what else to say.

i mean, if we're completely out of options, sure. i just don't see whiteside being a winner, and i'm ok with someone else finding out that he is. his former employers would be shocked.

i don't think anyone was shocked rondo or dwight performed. the others...didn't.
