Its twitter once again. Almost every major reporter were saying how it was a huge steal and they were looking in the $12 to $15 mil range and HOU got him for only $9. He reneged

Gasol would be a nice pickup, but I would hope that he'd be a minimum signing given his age

I think Marc Gasol is a downgrade for the Lakers from Dwight. He's a better floor spacer and passer but he's slow, not the same defender, and can't finish those easy baskets cause he can't dunk. I would rather the Lakers gamble on Cousins than Marc...

Well, only 3 teams that could sign him for more than 9. Atlanta maybe? Knicks? Charlotte?

Still don't think Howard left us, rather we had a bigger move in place. Gasol does not fit that idea.

Marc Gasol ain’t Memphis Marc Gasol. He’s pretty much done.

Agreed. Hoping we got a certain Serge Ibaka coming down the pipeline!

I honestly thought Gasol was retiring... It would be ok I guess, but our defensive identity takes a hit, I really, really wanted Dwight back.

Maybe we can ‘Deandre Jordan’ Dwight and lock him in his house until he signs back with us

Gasol and Dwight will have almost identical PPG and RPG numbers. Gasol is a much better shooter and he hits 3s at over 38%. FT shooting is also not even close and surprisingly Gasol steals the ball more. Dwight is a much more mobile defender. Gasol is a much superior passer. Age-wise, they are both 35. Gasol just needs to get in shape, fast.

Yeah this doesn't add up. Dwight apparently coming back to us at $3 million, then walking it back and signing a minimum deal with Philly, and then Marc Gasol emerging as a replacement?

The wording of Stein's tweet makes it sound like the void left by Dwight was unexpected and now we're trying to get Marc as a back-up option. But that doesn't line up with Dwight leaving for less money.

Maybe we pulled the Dwight offer to retain flexibility for a move to acquire a high impact guard/wing player, and then Gasol would be the center we add for depth with the remaining scraps we have to offer?

Honestly, if no Ibaka, why don't we sign Tristan? He knows "the system" and is a much better player than Dwight, not to mention... what... 5-6 years younger?

Well this was one reporter saying they were close to finalizing a deal. We don’t know that this is Woods going back on his word, just like we don’t know if Dwight reneged on his deal either.

Is he better than Dwight? Haven't watched him at all the last two seasons. I assume Tristan is a Laker. He just is waiting to see if we can snag another wing which would effect how much of the MLE he will get

If we go after Tristan Thompson, we HAVE to work in a “No Kardashian” clause into his contract.

I really hope the Lakers sign Marc Gasol

    1) From what I read from reporters on Twitter he would be just as effective as Dwight
    2) He shares the same agent as......Giannis (and Kostas of course)

He said he was headed to Europe to wrap up his career. I think he’s pretty much done.

    https://www.eurohoops.net/en/euroleague/1112327/marc-gasol-reportedly-thinking-to-return-to-spain/

Gasol is contemplating a return to Spain, and although a report he already has signed with Barcelona was erroneous, it might turn out to be simply premature. Nurse acknowledges that Gasol, who made $19.69 million this season, might move on. “

McMullan adds that Gasol was so worried about his parents this summer and amid a deep coronavirus crisis in Spain, that he considered not joining the Raptors in the Walt Disney World bubble for the completion of the season.

“He contemplated skipping the bubble altogether because of concerns over his elderly parents, who still live in Spain, which at one juncture was one of the worst hot spots for COVID-19.”
