On a side note, I think I have been converted on Hezonja. I'd still take Winslow first, but I like his game.

My biggest takeaway from that: he confirmed that the Lakers will NOT sit on their cash no matter what this summer. They'll land someone or they'll die trying and I love that.

As for trading #27 and #34 for a guy like Jennings or Stephenson, I'm all for that BUT how do you do that without cutting into our Cap Space?

I actually would really like Jennings in a back-up role here. He's kind of a knucklehead but he's talented. If you put him around Kobe I think you can get his head screwed on straight.

^ I don't think either of those (or similar player of that tier) could be had for just picks . Hill and Sacre could fill the void left by Monroe and Hill seems like a SVG kind of guy. MJ still needs a punch from the perimeter, he'll most likely partially address that in the draft but a Swaggy P could be a solid piece for their 2nd unit. Swaggy, 27, 34 for Lance and 39?

Both give us some flexibility. Jennings could play with Kobe or JC. Stephenson could backup Kobe or play with Kobe when Kobe's at SF.

If you can land Carroll and Lance, you become significantly more tougher and actually have some semblance of defense coming from your perimeter guys. Regarding his awful shooting with the Hornets I don't think that's the norm, he was much better with the Pacers and when he left he was forced into a role that he's not cut out for -- he's not a #2 option on a team and not a #3 on a good team, but he can be a great role player. Kobe and Scott could keep him focused and on point.

I agree. At 27 we aren't getting much. I think I line up the trade and wait until 27 and if there is no one we love, we pull the trigger. If Lance could regain his Pacers form, we instantly become a playoff team if we are able to add another solid vet. Carroll and Lance or Tyson and Lance would totally reshape the team's fortunes next season.

Not much risk either because Lance has two years left and it's a team option on that second year. So he's basically expiring. And I think Lance can play/start at sf. He was on Lebron a lot for those Pacer-Heat matchups. He's a little undersized, but if we got Towns and Tyson holding down the fort in the middle, I think we can get away with it.

Lance had one good year for the Pacers and I'm not making that up. Every other season was pretty much the same as what he did in Charlotte last year. He put up literally the worst the 3 point shooting percentage of all time.

Looking at his actual numbers, I'm honestly not sure he is an upgrade from Nick Young.

I like Young's character but he has been erratic this season. Most of it is the losing, chafing under the demanding Scott and injuries. Stephenson for all his talents is an attention seeking head case. I'd go with Young instead...can create his own shot and can make them too.

I'm at work, so I can't look up the math, but would you all bite if we traded 2nd+ 34th + Nick Young, to Minnesota for 1st + Rubio?

Just realized. Once we have Rubio, we go HARD after Marc Gasol for the Spanish connection.

    C - Gasol / Towns
    PF - Randle / Towns
SF - Kobe / Find anyone not named Wesley Johnson
    SG - Clarkson / Ellington
    PG - Rubio / Clarkson

Guys I know we package with Young lol I'm saying do we do that AND eat into our cap space?

Lance is making 8 million and Jennings is making a little under that. If we take back that contract, we're looking at less than a max contract available. We'd have just under 19 million to spend.

In order to take in a contract like that, we'd have to ship out Young, Sacre, Kelly, #27, and #34 to get close to the 20 million we'd need to get a max deal. I'm okay with that, just saying the money starts getting tight.

so many of these guys are just kids, haven't even grown into bodies yet
Total crapshoot on some of these guys
Either way #2 is an asset, but wouldn't surprise me if Mitch gets a nice prospect and assets in a trade
So few of these guys can help year one. Sure would be nice to see one last deep playoff run for Kobe....

In the deal's being proposed, Young, 27 and 34 are all out. Sacre is waivable. So now it comes down to Kelly. Probably can find SOMEONE to take him. So is it possible? Yes.

I wouldn't include a pick to get a guy coming off his worst nba season or another guy coming off an Achilles tear. if the lakers struck out on other FAs, I'd maybe consider taking those guys without giving anything. but it would have to be after exhausting a LOT of other options.

Possible, but the finances make it very difficult. That's the point I'm making.
