With all the talk of when we'll have a season (and whether Bron will be there for the start) , figured it was as good of a time as any to start the thread regarding next season's schedule.

Adam Silver was very supportive of the social messaging and demands. Now it's time to support Adam Silver and allow him to fix this mess with his league. He is losing billions. This is still a business and that has to now take precedent.

Kind of weird that the league is pushing for a solution which will disavdantage its most popular team and player ( despite the money equation).

Expect a 60-65 win % regular season from us if it starts in December

The bubble showed they have to wrap things up sooner. They don't want to extend past the summer. Then on top of that, they don't want to fight the Olympics for ratings.

The TV networks are threatening to renegotiate their deal and that cannot happen. The billions threatened there means the players have to suck it up and start 3 weeks earlier. Too much at stake.

It's 3 weeks and Bron is the only one with the right to have an opinion against that. We can let him take it easy during camp, let him sit out preseason, and load manage the first 3-4 weeks of the season.

Totally agree. I get that Lebron is complaining. The guy just wrapped up Season 17 in the league! That's no joke and it would be great if he get more time off. He earned the right to be displeased with the situation after 10 finals including this bubble!

However, money talks and the NBA needs to get back on track. They have to start in December pre-X-Mas to make this work.

Players had 4 months off between the split. I don't know why people forget that. It isn't like they played a full year.

I really don’t get the complaining by players. They will get more time off total then they would in a normal season (4 months of league stoppage + 2 months off before preseason) considering that the team went to the finals. Sure it’s not all consecutive but it’s still time your body gets to heal and rest. I would think the increased back to back game schedule they would have to play if the season started in January would be just as hard on the players bodies vs getting more rest.

What does "play in markets" mean? Not their regular arenas? TV is going to have even more challenges than what they had set up for the Bubble with the empty seats trying to mask them or again put LED walls up for each game on one whole side of the court and behind each basket.... that they were able to leave up during the Bubble. So the backgrounds don't suck. Displays that size are major undertakings to erect and take down with all the 16"-20" panels pieced together for the huge sizes, and the cabling and control equipment and operators on top of the cameras production end of all that. What you see at the large car shows and at concerts. Multi day set up and calibration and 1-2 day strikes. Large crews, heavy rigging and expense. Life size flat cut outs like at Dodger Stadium behind home plate I don't think will work for basketball. What a monumental task going forward and without income from paying live attendance until vaccine(s) make it safe again. Yikes.

is the play-in tournament for sure happening, or is it still tentative/likely?

edit: it appears to be "a thing" moving forward

I interpret “play in markets” to mean they cluster games in specific locations. I.e. 4-8 teams might be in LA at the same time and play each other a couple of times. They may not call it bubbles, but it serves as rotating mini-bubbles to minimize travel as much as possible.

Makes sense given the Covid situation has just gotten much worse. Probably a good idea.

Play in markets should have been the way to go anyways. Make the divisions matter. Less travel, all the b****ing the players make about too many games would be lessened if they had the teams play more division games then spreading it out to all the teams all over the place.

Clippers on opening night , Warriors on Christmas as Dudley said .

Watch out for the hot takes in case of a 0-2 start :

" Was Lakers last season title a fluke ? "

" The Lakers are the 3rd best team in the Pacific division !"
