For me, he's the best rental available. He's a sure fire 20 a night scorer. With such a quick turnaround and potential start date of Christmas week, we need to do all possible to lessen Bron's load this season. There's talks of back to back to backs popping up a couple times this year if they're going to fit 72 games in. No one is better in the league about listening to and managing their body, but the less he has to do early on this year the better. Hell, we have DG saying that Bron might even take a month off.

Depending on who we lose, we're good enough defensively to cover for him.

I still target a shooter in free agency, pair those two together on the court. We have a flexible team with a lot of different lineups we can run. I'm not worried about Frank’s ability to get the most out of him in a lineup that showcases him and maximizes his game.

What's worth more a missed 3 or a made 2? (Referring to DD replacing DG) And with DD, you know what you can expect. With Kuz, you know you have no idea.

As great as NBA free agency has been the last decade, I believe this next one will be off the charts exciting. Very excited for it...

if we managed to get dd with just green/kuz, sure i guess...than id just pass on 21' n just give kcp 3/36 or something along those lines (still tradeable contract)...i would negotiate dd on a 3yr deal ext. as well instead of taking him on as expiring, say 3/75 (with bonus incentives)?

The ideal scenario would be to bring them all back on cheap deals considering they were all league outcasts just the previous summer. If that’s not possible, I wouldn’t be too upset if we could bring back only one of McGee/Howard because I also think we can bring in Boogie Cousins for the vet minimum.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t we also have bird rights for Rondo, KCP, and McGee? That would definitely help in keeping these 3.

My semi realistic scenario would be to:
    - Resign AD to whatever deal he dictates
    - Resign Rondo to a 1 year, $8 mil deal
    - Resign KCP to a 1 year, $12 mil deal
    - Resign McGee to a 1 year, $6 mil deal
    - Sign Boogie for the minimum
    - Trade Danny Green+Kuzma to 76ers for Josh Richardson+Mike Scott (for salary matching purposes)
    - Sign Derrick Jones Jr. using part of the MLE for $5 mil
    - Sign Nerlens Noel for $4 mil (leftover of MLE)
    - Sign Carmelo Anthony for vet min. (He can replace a lot of what Kuzma does for the minimum)
    - Draft Tre Jones with our first round pick

    Rotation would be:
    Lebron/Rondo/Jones
    Richardson/Caruso/Cook
    KCP/Jones/THT
    AD/Carmelo/Scott
    McGee/Cousins/Noel

We have Bird rights on Rondo. Though I have not been following the cap this year like previous years, that could be good and of no concern of ours as long as it is really short. I wouldn't want to match some crazy multi-year Clip offer for instance.

my preference would definitely be to keep Howard over McGee. The only reason why I didn’t do it that way is because we don’t have Howard’s bird rights, which means we can only keep him if he agrees to the vet minimum or part of MLE.

I am anticipating another team to offer him more money, and he ends up taking it because he got his ring here already.

We have McGee’s bird rights and he opted out of his player option, which tells me if we want to keep him we have to either give him a raise on a 1 year deal or he wants a longer contract. I went with the 1 year deal, which we could do since we have his bird rights

i've been a proponent of bird and early bird rights, but some of those contracts carry no-trade clauses, which we should be mindful of.

No thanks. This is a conversation to have when he's a free agent and wants to come here for $10m or less. I'm not trading for that contract under any circumstances.

Yeah have fun being a Knick, it is where careers and bad contracts go to die. If he wants to come here he can negotiate a buyout.

I agree. I'll take the player, but not the contract. Thanks.

I'll tell you who I do want. Gallinari! He flat out said he's not about the money, he wants to play for rings. Can you imagine Galli as our third guy? Perfect fit. Leave him open and just see what happens. He's 15-20 points a night. Catching passes from Lebron and AD he's not going to break a sweat. We would punish the opposition on offense. I really want it to happen. But seriously, where else is he going to play that he would compete for rings like he would here? No place else. Come on back to L.A.

I pretty much agree plus it would be some payback for him to the Clippers. It is a good story, a good fit but he would have to take less money for couple of years or more. His net worth is reported to be 32 million, seems like he could afford to make a little less money for a couple of years so he could win a ring or two. If I were him, I would come here.

How many white guys can we afford to have playing major roles on our team though?

they are so fragile and prone to injury, Galli included.

    ;)
