LeBron's Decision, and the 3 point shooting revolutions for the Warriors (and Rockets) changed the league.
Hey Laker fam, two quick points about this championship we just witnessed: First, as fate would have it, the Finals came at one of the absolute busiest moments of my entire adult life. And due to once in a lifetime circumstances, I'll have to drop off the grid for the next four or five weeks (nothing remotely interesting, just a heavy work and travel schedule) and will only be able to check in sporadically. So I just wanted to take another opportunity to say it's been awesome witnessing another title run with you guys. Thanks for giving me a place to come every day to just bathe in Laker love. It's never too much for me. Second, with a day to really soak in that Finals win, I think it may have been just about the sweetest for me. Hard to imagine anything topping 2010, and as a pure basketball experience, nothing ever will. But man, we had no idea what the basketball wilderness looked like, did we? When we won Game 7 in 2010, I was 28 and the Lakers had won championships for literally a third of my life and had been in the finals for over half of it, and we'd missed the playoffs twice. Funny to think the cold stretch between Shaq and Pau felt like an eternity, and it was only three years (in which we made the playoffs twice). We were so spoiled. Which is why none of those earlier titles felt like this. They didn't come after a ten year drought, after six years out of the playoffs, and when it looked like the Clippers were finally gonna break free of their curse. And that's to say nothing of this happening during one of the bleakest eras we've ever lived through. But most importantly, we did this one for Kobe, when we absolutely HAD to, and in the only way he would have wanted us to: with our foot on the gas the whole way through. Nothing will top the thrill of 2010 for me, and the showtime Lakers will always be the true basketball gods, but this year was magical in a way the others weren't. So with that, I'll see you all on the other side of the travels. -D-Fish Man P.S. The Clippers can NEVER live this down.
yeah, i thought 04-07 felt like an eternity too the period from 13-18 was on an entirely different level of bad
What annoyed me most? Other California teams parading around as if they were the Lakers. But granted, the Warriors actually had three rings to show for it. The step children in the basement acted like they had three rings already.
HA!! Very cool but .... too short Have seen bigger, better and longer lasting displays illegally from my neighbors.
Will be interesting to see what Miami does with Goran Dragic who is a free agent. He's 34. Do they keep him around for 1-2 years and have him mentor Herro or do they let him go and hand the reigns over.
does he take a one-year deal? are other teams going to offer more? it's interesting. he had a good year, but he's 34 with a fair amount of mileage. seems like the right fit for him to stay put on a one year deal, maybe just over MLE to ward of suitors.
Oladipo apparently wants to go to the Heat. If Indy obliges I think they'll let Dragic walk. Dragic might get sought after by GSW/HOU as well and might take a little more than MLE to get him
we could offer him a starting spot. the other suitors can't. we don't have an entrenched pg, and we have a backup who can play more minutes if need be in the eagle. there's literally any way! in a box. with a fox. for a buck in the muck.
