In the first half he carried us so evens out. He scored like 12 of our first 14. But yeah not his best game.

Yes, we can't afford to play with our food. Denver is not Houston. This isn't Soften, low IQ Refbrook and incompetent Damfony, or the beaten up Portland. This team is well coached and their stars are good, and play with no fear, and the whole team has taken on that mentality. And now they're desperate. That makes them dangerous.

    Calling it now.

we lose game 3 and then win game 4, putting us up 3-1 and the media rumblings will start about Denver coming back yet again. The only difference is we smoke them in game 5 and send them home.

I think the other way around, we win game 3 but then get over confident and lose game 4. I think we got the s*** scared out of us in game 2, so we will come more prepared for game 3. But then we screw up a game before locking it down. We don't want to give the Nuggets any momentum.

Well, if we win game 3, it's over. No one comes back from that. Losing a game afterwards wouldn't mean much.

I kinda think they blew it last night. They wasted LeBrons off night. He will come with a vengeance again on Game 3 and I think we win pretty much slamming the door on their chances.

i'm sure this will bite me in the a**, but i sort of agree. the conditions were right for them to get a huge win last night, and they didn't. i know they're a resilient bunch who's won two straight 1-3 series, but we're a better team with a 2-0 lead. most of them understand this in the back of their mind.

Yeah. As good as Kawhi is, I don't think players around the league fear him like they do Lebron. They certainly don't fear PG. So while they probably thought they could come back on the Clippers and all their "junkyard dogs" (also known as puppies playing in piles of leaves), coming back on possibly the greatest player of all time as well as the best big man in the game (their main advantage last series) is a different animal all together.

This reminds me of the Artest game winner vs the Suns in a way. Granted that was to take a 3-2 lead, but the importance of the win and the pain of defeat the other team must be feeling has to be demoralizing. Artest bailed Kobe out who (IIRC) faltered at the end despite having an all around good game.

Kobe faltered? He tapped that a** in Game 6 though.

Kawhi was asking to be relieved every 3 minutes in the 4th when they were eliminated. That's what Kawhi is, as "good" as he is.

Yeah, what is there to fear about Kawhi? That he can get an efficient 30 points on a good night, and defend really good (but not as good as he used to defend)?
Bron could put up 50 points or get a 30 point triple double and or affect the game in so many more ways.

He smashed in game 6, but I do think he was 3 for 10-11 in the 4th quarter of the Artest game, including the airball (?) Artest cleaned up.

Exactly. I think the media hyped Kawhi through the roof. Was some of it deserved? Of course. But what are his claims to fame? Being on a Spurs team that beat Miami where he still had Duncan, Parker and Ginobli with him. And then last season he beat The Warriors with no Durant and no Klay for the last game. And he was only in those Finals because he had a VERY fortunate bounce against Philly. Kawhi is a VERY good player, but his career is a story of constant injuries and a couple magical playoff runs. You aren't afraid of Kawhi dropping 45/11/12 on you. Other players have had magical playoffs, yet they weren't glorified like Kawhi. Kawhi has been talked about as if he is top 5-10 all time over the last couple years. I mean, Dirk CARRIED the Mavs to a title more so than Kawhi carried the Raptors last season. Take DIrk off that Mavs team and they don't make the playoffs. Kawhi left and the Raptors were a game away from the ECF.

If we lived in a world with no social media and no "hot take" TV, Kawhi's star would not shine near as bright.

My transcription: "It's not hard for me to dislike this Lakers team, but I really dislike this Lakers team. It's such a fun team to sports-hate. They're the only team* that's heckling the other team's free throw shooters from their bench and doing s*** like that. And Dwight Howard, who is my least favorite player of the 21st century, he comes in and he's roughing up Jokic left and right...elbows, shoulders, shoves. He's committing like 5 fouls per possession. And then when they call a foul it's like "WHAT? WHAT DO YOU MEAN? FOUL?!" It's like nobody on the Lakers has committed a foul this entire season. I've never seen a team b**** about more calls! And then J.R. Smith, who was washed up 3 years ago, you know, he's on the side like f***ing Bobby in Cobra Kai like "YEAH! GET HIM A BODY BAG!" It's like, J.R., you were done in 2017, go away. I can't stand this Lakers team.

Sycophant on the pod with him: "Nah, you like Rondo, you like Caruso, you don't mind those guys.

Simmons: "I do. I love Rondo."

hard to believe that tool basically built a mini-media empire by being an incredible homer with a lot of time on his hands.

There is nothing like Bill Simmons' sassy moist rage. This should go in the Doomsday thread.
