So, before we start the draft and free agency, let's play a little game. Everyone puts down the 12 man roster they think will open for the Lakers. If you want to write a quick one or two sentences as to why, that's fine. But NO editing the lineup after June 20th. Then when the dust settles in a couple months we can look back to see who was closest. This is not what you want or your "dream" lineup. This is not to discuss free agents or draft picks. This is what you think will actually be the 12-man roster come October. Who wants to go first?
Rondo/Clarkson Kobe/Ellington/Brown Randle/Young/Anderson Love/Kelly Okafor/Black I'm not happy with Love or Rondo, but I just have a feeling they'll be here (Rondo on a cheap 1 yr deal). Here's my realistic (non-realistic would be Butler instead of Harris) dream lineup just to get that ^^^ nasty flavor out of my mouth: Clarkson/Mo Williams Kobe/Young/Brown Harris/Anderson Randle/Davis/Kelly Towns/Black
I'd really love to post a lineup now but i truly believe that report that there will be around 7 new faces when all is said and done...so i'll just sit back and see what you guys come up with
Opening night lineup? Wow. I'd have to think about this. Rondo/Lin/Brown Kobe/Clarkson/Brown Green/Young/Anderson Love/Randle/Black Davis/Okafor/Black That's what I have right now. Although, I could see Nick getting shopped.
^^ I don't think we have enough $$ for Love, Green, Davis, and Rondo. Isn't Green likely to get $10mil+ and Davis around $6-8?
Yeah, I'm assuming we shed salary. I think we're adding a starting caliber small forward and a max level player. After back-to-back seasons of getting massacred, I think we spare no expense this summer with the impending salary cap spike going up the following year and every team having a max spot in 2016. Spend, spend, spend, now. Although, you do it with a purpose. We just don't spend and/or overpay on anybody; we overpay players that will fill needs and bring more wins to the team.
don't mean to be critical with your lineup but I don't think we can afford all those free agent contracts: Rondo, Lin, Green, Love, Davis, + our 2 rookie contract. I don't know, but that's what jumped out to me when I saw this. Not a bad lineup though, except seeing Rondo there
It sounds like a lot. I'm operating under this premise; the cap jumps 22 million dollars or so the following year when the salary cap spikes. Every team in the league is going to have money in 2016. Now is the time to go shopping while we have the advantage over every other team in the league. We're uniquely positioned this summer with enormous flexibility. If we have to bite the bullet one year and operate over the cap, KNOWING that the salary cap is increasing next year, and we can put a more competitive product on the floor, I think we'll do it. We'll spare no expense, IMO. Rondo isn't getting paid like he thought he was; he'll get a 'save your career contract' for 1 year that will $-4-5 million bucks; if that. If he wants more, he's not getting it. His value is shot Lin might get over what we'll be offering, but we do have his BIRD RIGHTS, and I think he likes being in Los Angeles. Addtionally, I think him and Scott had a meeting of the minds over the year and were able to work some things out. If not, go get a suitable backup. Davis likes Scott. I think he'll take a discount to come back, IMO. As for Green, he'll be a bargain in 1 year when the salary cap goes up. Pay him and get a starting level wing. Impossible for this too happen? I don't think so. It will just take a lot of creativity and flexibility. Both of which we have right now...
I'm sure not what you have in mind but looks like Clarkson or Lin is going to really get their minutes squeezed. Would hope it's Lin or Rondo. Don't think either would be up for that. Certainly need minutes for JC. Am guessing you see them interchangeably between 2 and 1 spots. As needed. Less minutes for Kobe and Rondo. If Byron remembers.
This is what kobe and the fo want rondo/price Clarkson/brown kobe/young randle/kelly okafor/davis I rather we go for a starting sf and backups for pg and center
to be fair we don't know what the FO really wants, but we'll see in 2-3 months. But, yes, Kobe would want Rondo by all accounts
