if he was black, he would've been shot dead the second cops saw him walking in the streets with an ar-15

instead he was given water by police and arrested peacefully

I see a lock out coming next year. Negotiations for the new CBA were never going to be easy because of the loss of revenue from the whole virus. If they decide to boycott the playoffs, that’s more lost revenue. I would think the cap is going to fall greatly and along with that comes salaries.

Well, many of us have and I don't see it doing all that much. It is going to take an honest dialog. Don't just lay it on me and then tell me to go fix it myself. That is pure BS. This is a societal issue and it is going to take a social dialog to change it. I have done a lot to be fair to all humans myself and have spoken up to my friends and colleagues. I don't hang out with people who are racist that I am aware of. If people say anything that is racist, I will typically speak up, unless I am scared for my life. I ain't going into a biker bar and calling out their leader for being racist. I am leaving and would rather not get my a** kicked.

If people don't talk about it, then you are relying on someone else working it all out for you. That makes it a more difficult problem to solve.

Underage, crossing state lines, I'm not a gun law lawyer, so i cant make a comment on that. There are two known incident involving the kid. First incident did he shoot the guy in the head? Or just happened to be in the area? Second incident, he was being chased, hit with a skateboard, kicked in the head, and had a handgun pointed at him. Should he be there and be armed? No, but if being chased, and attacked he should be able to defend himself any means necessary.

I just can't with statement like this. He was given water by the police BEFORE the incident happened. The way you put it is just a false narrative. Google Willie Godbolt, Isaiah J. Martin, Quincy Smith just to name a few.

@432J 's sentiment is real. I wasn't at all these damn crime scenes where the police kill innocent people. If you want to try to be omnipresent at every altercation and try to be the judge of everyone, then be my guest. It sounds like a complete waste of time to me.

What I do know is that I'm brown and that I've been cuffed for "trespassing"... only to see my white friends literally taunt the same cops, and talk them out of cuffing me. I grew up with mostly Asians, Mexicans and whites. Countless times my white friends have had to talk the cops out of rolling us over. But who am I? I'm just some dweeb on the internet, probably a Russian bot or something.

But before you dismiss me entirely, just take the this point home - cops, not all of them, but a lot of them, treat white people better than they do non-white people. A google breakdown of a few incidents isn't enough evidence to convince me otherwise.

We don't want it this way and we didn't come up with police brutality or racial profiling from thin air. Do you know how comforting it would be to fully trust the police??? I actually think you might. I don't know that feeling.

I mean this is kind of important. He had no business being in possession of a gun, transporting it across state lines, and then using said gun to defend someone else's property. Castle doctrine applies to YOUR property, not someone else's. At a minimum, he's looking at felony weapon charges.

In the video before the second incident. You can hear him say "I just killed somebody".

The first incident necessitated this second incident. The group chasing him wanted him to stop killing others.

And going back to my original point with this whole situation in Kenosha: Police can’t see what’s right in front of them including someone brandishing a long gun but they do have the power of seeing a suspect reach for a weapon, magically, through the suspect and car doors? Why is there an inconsistency here? And I'm not going to give the police the benefit of the doubt here. This particular department is not required to have body cameras which makes this whole situation even more sketch.

he was already breaking the law by openly carrying a weapon while underage and crossing state lines to incite violence

so how can you use the self-defense excuse when the guy was already in violation of the law? he shouldn't have been there with an ar-15 in the first place

The point is that the statement suggests that the cops treated him like VIP during the arrest. The black man got shot while the white kid gets water bottle while being arrested... False. Statements like that only create further division, because whose to say a lurker takes that as facts and continues that misinformation.

I've faced discrimination because of my color/appearance. Do i think a certain group are more racist than others.. No. There's ignorant people of all color, and some happens to have a badge. So how do we improve the situation? - Riot? False narratives? Scream at people that they're racist? Not comply? Prop up criminals? Social workers? Some might follow that cause, but i surely wont. Cops has to be held accountable, training has to be better, a system for us to report the good and bad cops. We want cops to make us feel safe, but we also have to do our part and do the same for them.

Safety and security comes at a price of freedom, how much are we willing to give up?

Like i said, i reserve judgement because the all the facts aren't out yet. He's going to be charged, but to what extent is the question. The two incidents cant be compared. In Blake's there was an altercation, an arrest warrant, and possible weapon. Quincy Smith is an example how fast things can change. With a gun pointed at you just comply whether its a cop or a mugger, there's a higher chance of survival. Survive another day and get those if unjustified. For Kyle, did the first incident happen because of castle doctrine and ran because he was scared when someone said get him? After the 2nd incident, he had the rifle front slung running towards the cops w his hands up. Did the cops know/hear he was the shooter? Possible they saw a guy with a rifle front slung in an open carry state, i don't know.

    I'll go off of this - https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2020/0...yle-rittenhouse-being-allowed-to-leave-scene/

You're not making a point. Are you trying to point out that he felt the brunt of the law? This kid admitted to killing someone on video and wasn't even apprehended. The cops in my friend's neighborhood used more force on me for falsely trespassing. They didn't even cuff this POS. How about that for a narrative?

Ok, no narrative, just facts: people are protesting over the police shooting an apparently innocent, unarmed black man. A white kid in a baseball cap arrives to the protest with a loaded rifle; lets off shots & allegedly kills 2, admits it on video.

And your big take away is: he wasn't treated like a VIP because they offered water to Kyle before he shot them, not after.

You should see what happened to the unarmed black guy - he was shot and paralyzed.

I can't take the rest of your post seriously.

I respect the depth of feeling and where this outrage is coming from the players. However I am aware of the very real chance of us competing and/or winning the championship this year. And if some partial living vicariously through the team and hoping to avoid any what if's by closing down this season is wrong, I on an emotive level can't let it down. I would argue that this season is legitimate as any, and a disrupted regular season and a stop and start finals should no matter. I am invested in this season.

What would Kobe do? To be honest I don't know. And I think everybody here would have some answer in their head, but I could see him respecting the decision by the Lakers either to carry on or stop for a purpose.

What I would say is that the NBA has done as much as it can to not be the problem. It has bent over backwards to be accommodating, to respect feelings, to highlight the cause and generally add gravitas to concerns. Of course it can be looked at cynically, but sometimes the difference between doing the right thing and being seen to do the right thing is very small. I feel Silver has been note perfect in doing his best to keep the NBA running as well as being socially conscious. And at the end of the day who is being punished by this potential finish to the season? The owners, the fans, the game itself and the players.

I do not know how to fix this. I know this latest police shooting resonates across communities throughout America and this crime is not one man injured (for life no doubt), but it symbolizes the future of inaction. A future where this event could repeat again against the son or daughter or grand children of a player or coach in the bubble. I know that Dwight Howard for example could be a mess right now. Seven bullets in the back, in front of your children.
