I'm not investing preference on someone until we get him. I'm an Okafor guy ever since but F him if Minny gets him. I'm going all in with Towns bad gait and all. I know everyone here will also. Isn't it fun that instead of the most likely pick of No. 5 (where everyone will argue about Jonhson, WCS, Hezonja etc. etc.), we get the No. 2 where we discuss the merits of only 2 guys.
If there are genuine injury concerns with Towns based on his physiology, that trumps everything for me. How many teams this year alone were derailed due to injuries? How many draft picks are considered busts solely because the player couldn't stay on the floor? I spent practically every game fearful for Bynum. I imagine it's what Bulls fans go through now when they watch Rose play. No thank you.
It's @therealdeal who brought it up. I don't believe any team has made any statement on this yet considering it's pre draft and they're evaluating each draftee one by one but yeah it's corcerning to get a Bynum type problem. I dunno if we have it in us to get through those disappointing injuries again.
Yeah I mean it could amount to nothing. He could hit the NBA, work on his leg strength and core strength and never have the issues I'm seeing. But I'll stick by my prediction. I predicted Rose's problems back in 08 and I'm going to predict problems for Towns too. For a clue just watch his knees when he moves, when he posts up, when he jumps and lands... They're all over the place. That's indicative of really weak legs and core and for a big man, that's a horrible thing to have. In fact as he's walking around I've noticed he tends to hyper extend at times. I want to be wrong, but I don't think I will be.
Well...back to the basket scoring centers that command doubles are like dinosaurs nowadays. Too many velociraptors running around and I want us to trot out a big, big T-Rex.
The more you mention it the more it makes me insanely nervous. I want Okafor. Next great Lakers center for a decade and a half. Do it Mitch!! Don't work out for MN Jahlil. Eff em and their sitting on frozen lakes in tents drinking during those Siberian winters, while they fish through a hole in the ice. You instead can be blowing up your "brand" in Los Angeles and bring Jack back to the sidelines with the help of a great cast of thousands. Errr ..... cast of teammates. Got carried away thinking about the gladiator movie they'll hook you up to star in. Look what Arnold did, and you're Bigger.
I'm surprised at the number of people choosing Okafor over Towns. This is a pick and roll league now and I want our center to be able to defend it. Towns is so much more versatile than Okafor and would also compliment Randle nicely. I'm still expecting us to get Okafor though, but man, if the Timberpuppies pass on Towns, I'll be stoked!
@Kenzo A few months ago it would have favored Okafor a lot more before people starting dissecting problems that don't exist and overblowing any flaw in his game.
Yeah. The Towns is #1 chatter didn't start until late in the season. I remember Okafor was #1 in the mock drafts for most of the season. But the closer you get to the draft, the more GMs and scouts fall in love the P Word (potential). It's the same thing every year.
Yeah, honestly, Parker was the sure shot in the 2014 draft, and was the surefire ROY. But Wiggins' potential bested that for the #1 pick, and Parker going down defaulted Wiggins' to win.

If Towns or Okafor are available at #3, Philly will take him as part of a trade that likely won't involve the Knicks. History has shown you're better off drafting the best value available and working from there.
Yeah. There would be lots of takers for Okafor. They could go to whoever takes Russell and trade Okafor for Russell and maybe a future first...or a 14th 2nd round pick in the 2015 draft.
Projected No. 1 draft pick Karl-Anthony Towns will interview with the top two teams in the NBA Draft lottery — the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers — but won’t workout for any teams, sources told SNY.tv. The Timberwolves own the No. 1 pick in the June 25 NBA Draft and have the right to select the 6-foot-11 Towns or 6-11 Duke big man Jahlil Okafor with the No. 1 pick. The Lakers pick second. DraftExpress.com projects that Towns, who is repped by Leon Rose of CAA, will go No. 1 to the Wolves. http://zagsblog.com/articles/towns-will-interview-with-wolves-lakers-wont-do-workouts/
^^^ Their is no way I'd draft someone #1 overall, or at any other slot in the draft, if they didn't work out for me. Can you imagine going to a job interview and they ask you to perform the job for 30 minutes and you refuse and then expect to get the job? Good luck!
