Memo to Justin Anderson..."killers" are bad for a team. Ask Doughboy Dudley.

I'm pretty hopeful we can have a shot at Justin Anderson in this draft. If not, Wright could certainly fall to us and I like both of those picks late.

With some of these older prospects, I don't see why we wouldn't want to keep our 27th and 34th. They'd be dirt cheap and be ready to contribute on day one.

Like what I heard from him. Please don't let him get to SA, he'd be a steal for them. They must be thinking about Green's replacement.

The real gems in the late drafts are the ones that are projected in the middle of the pack, but for some reason, people pass on them. Those are the ones we have to look at.

I understand for some players, they just want to get drafted, or better, get drafted higher based on the rookie contract pay scale. For those few who know they will get drafted and don't care about position, can they choose not to work out with a team or are they obligated to?

Like Okafor, does he HAVE to workout for Minnesota? If he insisted on not showing up, obviously that tells Minny something?

Green is a good player but he flourished in a system that San Antonio runs. Scott doesn't even have one or settled on one. Maybe he can figure out once the personnel is fleshed out. Just collect a group of mature, young, hungry players to develop together, a seasoned vet [or two] for leadership and with 24 on board to mentor them as a collective. As he has stated, he wants to leave the organization in good hands going forward. Mirror the methodology Golden State has employed and nurture it like San Antonio has done for the decade and a half. Bring the shine back to the P&G!

Intrigued by Anderson. Glad Wright got a look; one thing that I like is the team our D-league team did last year. If we do draft one of these guys, there's always the option of placing them in the D-league for stints; they do a wonderful job.

    5.9 Scoring, 3.0 Passing, 2.3 Hustle, 68 Efficiency (Wing)
    5.7 Scoring, 2.7 Passing, 2.3 Hustle, 62 Efficiency (Wing)
-High Use Rate gunner. I don't understand the appeal.

    Anthony Brown
    6'6" 215# Wing
    Stanford
    STATS
    Scoring 5.6, Passing 2.5, Hustle 2.2, Offense: 59 (SR)
    Scoring 5.4, Passing 2.2, Hustle 2.3, Offense: 53 (Career)
-Apparently a 3 and D guy. He stroked the three well - shot shot 45 and 44% over his last two seasons (132/296). I don't think he can do much else though.

    Charles Jackson
    6'10" 225 C
    Tennessee Tech
    STATS
    Scoring 6.0, Passing 1.3, Hustle 4.0, Offense 93 (Big) - Frosh
-Good size, pretty athletic, and he shows some interesting post moves (baby hook, uses both hands); reminds me a bit of Turiaf.

As soon as you said Brown could shoot and not do much else, I immediately thought of Anthony Morrow

-For a big, he's a decent passer and decent scorer. I can't say much more about him.

    Delon Wright
    6'5, 178#, G
    Utah
    STATS

-Statistically, this guy is a boss. Reminiscent of Dwyane Wade. By comparison, Wade was 21.5 pts, 6.3 reb, 4.4 ast, 2.2 stl, 1.3 blk, shot .501-.318-.779 as a Sophomore. Wright went 14.5 pts, 4.9 reb, 5.1 ast, 2.1 stl, 1.0 blk, and shot .509-.356-.836. No jumper, but he can defend.

    Mudiay 90 PG
    Russell 82 PG
Delon Wrigh 81 PG (he might be a wing)
    McConnell 80 PG
    Pangos 67 PG

    Russell 81 Wing
    Hunter 75 Wing
    Jones 69 Wing
    Wells 69 Wing
Askia Booker 68 Wing (but he's probably a PG)
    Winslow 65 Wing
    Hollis-Jefferson 61 Wing
    Anthony Brown 59 Wing
    Anderson 58 Wing

    Towns 103 Big
    Okafor 100 Big
    Walker 93 Big
    Charles Jackson 93 Big
    Tuttle 82 Big
    Stefan Nastic 77 Big
    Wood 74 Big

I'll go back through and add in stars for people who are likely good defenders.

Anderson looks legit. Like Farmar/Shannon Brown combo.

    Pat Connaughton

Scoring: 5.1, Passing 2.3, Hustle 2.4, Offense: 50 Wing (Career)
-He shoots a ton of threes - and well (42.3% as a SR) - and he rebounds pretty well; played more off the ball with Grant handling it this year. He also tested as one of the more athletic players in the draft. A solid defender.

    Speedy Smith
    6'3, 180 PG
    Louisiana Tech
    STATS
Scoring 4.1, Passing 4.2, Hustle 2.6, Offense: 68 PG (SR)
Scoring 4.2, Passing 4.0, Hustle 2.7, Offense 68 PG (Career)
-As a senior he handed out 267 assists while shooting only 198 times. Managed a 3:1 ast/to ratio. His 4.2 passing rating is ridiculously good. Decent three-point shot. Called an excellent defender. Someone said Price; that doesn't sound inaccurate.

Let's face it. He was the leader of a #1 seed and one of the best defenses in the country. He is an athletic beast and obviously knows how to defend. That alone should have us interested. The fact that he hit 45% of his threes is icing on the cake.
Anderson would not be sent to the D-League, not with our roster. He'd be a first rounder which means guaranteed contract which means he would almost have to be on our main squad. Besides, who do we even have at the wings right now? Kobe, Brown and Young. Maybe Clarkson could play some there, but he's our only pg so I doubt he'll be able to give us many minutes. Even if we sign one of the sf prospects (Harris, Middleton, Carroll, Green) that still leaves us with 4 guys for two positions. One of those 4 was a D-Leaguer for most the season and had a run that may or may not be a fluke. Another one has been lost to season ending injuries 3 seasons in a row. If we draft Anderson, he may end up as the starter if we can't land any of the free agents. Wes Johnson may end up on our roster again because we need Minimum Salary players to fill it in.
