Can someone please give me the tl:dr on all this Bradley Beal nonsense I’m seeing scattered around the internets? Doesn’t he have a massive contract and aren’t we past the trade deadline? What is this?

Hey! It's my first post here! :)

Yes, it's past the trade deadline. He cannot be traded until the off-season, if they have any appetite for it, at all. And the Wizards aren't saying.

Yes, he has a big contract, and for the Lakers to get him in a trade it would take a minimum of 4 players not named LeBron or Davis. We'd be looking at people like Kuz, Danny Green, KCP, and one other to make the salaries work.

Personally, I think this is a pipe dream. The Lakers don't have the assets to make a trade, and certainly none the Wizards would want for Beal, unless the Lakers wanted to surrender their first round picks from now until the sun explodes. My best guess is that Beal waits to see what it's like when John Wall gets back. See if he can get back to his previous form. If it's not working by the trade deadline next season, he might look for a landing place. More likely, though, he'll be eligible for a supermax contract, so my guess is he signs it and then looks for a trade.

I think all this current talk can be safely ignored.

Of course, you guys don't know me at all yet, so you have no reason to believe me. So just put this post in your pocket and wait.

Welcome Dana! Is that with a soft "a" like Dan or hard "a" like Dane? My wife has same name with the soft one. Dan. ..... errrr ..... Dana. :giggle:

Welcome to the board. Good first post, and likely what happens. I feel like we are pretty much all in on the Giannis pipe dream and an AD/Greek Freak duo destroying the league for 5 years.

English speakers say it with a long "a" as in DAY-na. Hispanic people say it with a short "a" as in DON-na. I answer to either one. :)

A "twin towers" of Giannis and Anthony Davis would be something to see. But you would have to surround them with dead-eye shooters to space the floor, and at least one guard who can handle and distribute the ball, and also get his own shot.

Nope. Sadly, I suppose, because I like that pronunciation. Like Dana Bash, the reporter. I like the sound. :)

So who do we sign as replacements for Dwight and AB? Boogie for sure but who can bring impact like AB in some way?

I don't think AB is going to sit this one out. He's helping players to voice their concerns and he has his own but I don't think he's actually going to miss this opportunity to play for a championship. Dwight I don't know about for sure. I could see him going either way.

I don't think AB and Howard will sit. Lebron will convince them to come back.

If only Byron is our coach now, he can tell players to man up and get into the foxhole, which really is appropriate this season LOL

I think the NBA will turn this situation into an opportunity better than the players could imagine to have a platform for change.

I've actually been very impressed with Adam Silver's handling of a number of difficult issues, and how he addresses things very sensitively while keeping the big picture in mind. Whereas Stern was a total ahole, Silver is actually liked and admired and has people skills. I bet Silver is cooking up something amazing for the players and the league to help make a difference, and any player that sits out will regret not being able to participate due to their small mindedness.

I'm glad Silver is giving them the players a choice to participate, but I hope he continues his incredible leadership shown thus far into this difficult time. I hope the NBA leads the way on change in a way that makes us all proud to be a fan, and that the game continues to flourish worldwide.

Damn, that’s a bummer, I loved him as a starter and key defensive player in lineups that go on runs. Buuut, I’m still not even sure this season is really gonna finish out anyway, every time a player or coach tests positive things are going to grind to a halt.

This sucks. AB set the tone defensively. On the bright side, at least we don’t get to see anymore Rondo/Bradley backcourt pairings.
