After a weekend of chaotic protests throughout the region, Los Angeles County and several other Southern California cities declared sweeping curfews for its residents.

The curfew for L.A. County goes into effect on 6 p.m. Monday and will last through 6 a.m. Tuesday, with the possibility to extend it, according to a signed ordinance from the county Board of Supervisors. The public is not allowed allowed on streets, parks or other public areas.

Have read on Nextdoor.com one scheduled for Burbank at 3PM. 5PM - 6AM curfew in force and we are being told police will be ready for any looting and arson from the element that follows these people in. Can only imagine store owners who have been shuttered for the virus now not knowing what to expect after watching L.A. cops last night obviously under some directive to not engage the a-holes that were looting right in front of them. Burbank has a well run department. Fingers crossed. Probably starting the protests as I type this.

The WHO just obliterated every argument for mandatory vaccines or contact tracing by declaring asymptomatic carriers don’t spread COVID-19
Monday, June 08, 2020 by: Mike Adams

Asymptomatic spread was the entire reason why world authorities demanded lockdowns, social distancing and masks, too. It was also the underlying justification for demanding mandatory vaccinations and contact tracing. After all, if the spread of coronavirus were limited to only those who obviously showed symptoms — and could therefore be easily identified and avoided — there would be no logical need for lockdowns, social distancing, masks, contact tracing or mandatory vaccines, since spreaders of the pandemic could be easily identified and avoided (or isolated with selective stay-at-home orders only for the symptomatic).
All at once, the WHO has just exploded all these narratives that were so aggressively pushed by the CDC, Democrat governors, Dr. Fauci at the White House and even the WHO itself. Now, based on the WHO’s new admission, not only should every lockdown be immediately ended; any government effort to initiate new lockdowns should be vehemently rejected as being utterly groundless and anti-science.
It also means the occupancy limits at workplaces should be immediately lifted, allowing all gyms, bars, restaurants and movie theaters to operate at full capacity. The only required rule is that people who sneeze or show fevers must be asked to leave, and that’s it

Plus, the CDC says the virus can’t be spread on surfaces
All this is on top of the CDC recently announcing that the coronavirus can’t be spread via surfaces, either. So there’s no more justification for people wearing gloves or sanitizing packages or grocery bags. In fact, according to the CDC’s newest admissions, there’s no more reason to avoid shaking hands, either.

So if the coronavirus only spreads through people who are actively showing symptoms, then the entire argument behind everybody wearing masks — which was that we all needed to wear them because none of us knew whether we, ourselves, were spreading the virus — instantly collapses. The WHO just made mask mandates a complete joke, which makes us wonder why the government continues to hoard them, of course.

In fact, unless the WHO is lying to us now, the entirety of every single argument for lockdowns, masks, social distancing and all the rest has just been blasted to smithereens. And if the WHO is lying to us now, then what’s to say they haven’t been lying all along on other issues?

As I was saying before f*** Dr .Fauci very hard

@LTLakerFan It's an opinion column based on this quote from a WHO scientist.

    LINK

I don't trust the WHO. In January, they spread Chinese propaganda that the virus couldn't be transmitted human-to-human, even though Taiwan informed them that wasn't true at all.

Thanks revgen. Yeah they are learning more and more and I would think we all are happy with the unfolding science with this nasty virus (once it gets its hooks in you whoever that may be). A lot of organs can get attacked and affected. So errror as they had to on the side of caution and what they were seeing in the hospitals initially many countries.

And I’m suspicious of the WHO and China as well. Now reports of fevers and respiratory problems in that area 2-3 months earlier, backed up with on line searches for same.

BUT ..... this is not some smoking gun that can just be tossed out there, not even with a link .... and keep calling “new additional proof” that it’s all been a hoax.

I believe the virus is real and that a very specific set of people are vulnerable to it. I also believe there was a real but brief epidemic in the NYC metro area. The population density and the public transit system delivered the virus quickly to the specific people who are vulnerable.

But outside of the NYC metro area, it's been too much overreaction, panic, and political intervention/appropriation.

Damn it, Revgen. This is America. There is no room for reasoned, pragmatic responses here. Only tribalism and extreme measures.

Overreacting is better than underreacting when there are 117,000 deaths in less than 3 months. And a 2nd wave is coming as we speak.

I highly doubt the official numbers are as high as they say they are. Mostly because hospitals have an incentive to report COVID-19 cases in order to receive more money from Medicare.

Here's the thing. There is a stat where you look at excess death rate. The excess death rate essentially looks at extra people dying compared to normal. The excess death rate isn't all that high because COVID might kill someone a month before they were going to die of something else. So it gets counted as a COVID death, and COVID did indeed cause it, but when comparing this pandemic's excess death rate to that of other time periods and it's actually just a little higher than the flu season of 17/18. The overwhelming majority of people dying of this are elderly people with preexisting conditions. If you count everyone who dies of COVID as an excess death, you are overcounting the true impact since those people were on death's door anyway. It sucks that their life was cut short by a month or two, but the damage being done by the overreaction is going to end up being catastrophic. The economic toll and the amount of families who are now in poverty will cut many lives far shorter than the person who dies of COVID at age 79 as opposed to dying at 79 and one month of heart failure.

My wife and I are lucky enough to have jobs where we are working from home and not really missing a beat. So I'm not in a position to benefit from the reopening. This isn't a situation where I want more money. If anything, I'm doing better financially since I am not eating out for dinner near as much, I can't go to the fish store and buy coral for my Reef Tank, etc. I want it to reopen out of compassion for people because I understand the economic impact this is having and the correlation between said impact and the long-term health and life expectancy of our society as a whole.

To quote Doc Brown: "We're not thinking 4th dimensionaly." We are looking at the here and now, but we are not looking into the future and what the repercussions of this will cause.
